GEAR GUIDE Low-profile, half-round dump The MAC Macsimizer half-round trailer has a radius bulk- head and a low-profile frontend with a lower center of gravity, which the company says provides a 7-inch lower frontend and a 6-inch lower backend with 31 inches less flat space on the bulkhead compared to the standard flat bulkhead. The smaller amount of flat space can help fuel efficiency, too, the company says. MAC Trailer, MACTrailer.com. Text INFO to 50298 or visit ovdinfo.com. Large scale road atlas X Line long haul tire The Michelin X Line Energy D tire's top tread rubber layer is balanced to provide the fuel efficiency benefits and resistance to tread scrub, while the bottom tread rubber layer has properties that promote cooler casing tem- peratures, helping lower rolling resistance and extend casing life. It also uses the company's pro- prietary Matrix Siping Technology, which promotes even wear and improved traction, the company says. Michelin, michelin.com. Text INFO to 50298 or visit ovdinfo.com. Rand McNally has brought back the Large Scale Motor Carriers' Road Atlas, which features tear- and water-resistant pages, a spiral binding for stay-flat pages and larger maps with bigger type than those in the regular book. It features more city maps than before, adding eight new cities and one new downtown map. New map coloring of state-designated truck routes and National Network routes helps with route planning. Direct links to industry information, including current construction projects, can help in planning or while en route. Rand McNally, randmcnally.com, 800-333-0136. Columbia daycab kit The Daycab Company's daycab conversion kit for the Freightliner Columbia series gives 4 inches more room behind the seat than a factory daycab, the company says. The kit comes with a roof, backwall and an air- ride bracket system. The new roof lies on top of the old roof above the front windshield, where the cab is low and flat. Installation can be expected to take about 40 hours, the company says. Daycab Co., daycabs.com, 800-316-5011. Text INFO to 50298 or visit ovdinfo.com. 72 | Overdrive | November 2012
