FLEET NEWS for business intelligence recognized Maverick Computerworld magazine named Maverick Transportation a Best of Business Intelligence Editor's Choice Awards honoree. This awards program recognizes successful business intelligence initiatives. Maverick was chosen for its concepts of aggregating data and analytics to help improve efficiency and safety. Honorees will be included in cover- age in Computerworld. They also had the opportunity to showcase their initiatives at Computerworld's 2012 BI & Analytics Perspectives conference in September in Phoenix. Pay Con-way Truckload announced that it is increasing pay 1 cent per mile, applicable to company drivers and owner-operators, effective Nov. 25. Con-way also is lowering its unpaid wait time when drivers are detained at docks from three hours to two. Honors Ryder Systems technician Christopher Barnett was named the grand champion of the Technology & Maintenance Council's SuperTech competi- tion in September in Pittsburgh. Barnett has been with the company for nine years … Con-way Truckload driver Rick Primmer of Spokane Valley, Wash., reached the 3 million mile mark in September, the carrier announced. Primmer is one of only 14 Con-way drivers to do so … Reading, Pa.-based carrier Penske Logistics has been given the Delphi Above & Beyond Award for its distribu- tion center management services … Ronald Fuller of Central Freight Lines in Dallas was named the American Trucking Associations' National Driver of the Year in September at an ATA conference held in Kansas City, Mo. Facilities Southeastern Freight Lines opened a new service center in Lafayette, La., in September.
