GEAR GUIDE Reefer diagnostic tool Carrier Transicold's Virtual Tech is a comprehensive diagnostic application that continu- ally monitors trailer refrigeration unit operation to help avert potential system problems. Found exclusively on refrigeration units equipped with the APX control system, the Virtual Tech activates a warning to the driver when it senses a problem. When the alarm button is pushed, a text message describing the problem will appear on the APX display module. The Virtual Tech application also records system operation data so that detailed performance reports can be downloaded for review with Carrier Transicold's new TRU-Tech and TRU-View PC programs. The APX control system is standard with Carrier's new 2500 APX and 2100 APX models in the X2 series of trailer refrigeration units. Carrier Transicold, trucktrailer.carrier.com, 860-674-3000. Rust-resistant brake shoes Marathon Brake Systems' manufacturer-quality brake shoes feature electro-deposition coating for rust jacking prevention and are built to withstand 1,000 hours of salt spray testing. The shoes are manufactured from thick high-grade carbon steel to facilitate maximum life and safety and are seam-welded along the shoe's entire table/web seam for added strength and durability while providing uniform, balanced braking perfor- mance and preventing "hot spots" that can shorten material life.
