It has a race-tuned 1000 H2 engine churning out 90-plus horsepower and claim dominance at the top of the Wildcat performance chain. For 2014, the Wildcat X features enhanced braking performance, FOX shocks and new steering geometry. The all-new upscaled Wildcat X Limited adds full-aluminum doors, a sleek molded roof, Elka Stage 5 shocks, aluminum beadlock wheels and 27-inch ITP Black Water Evolution Tires. Inspired by desert race vehicles, the Wildcat's exoskeleton frame features a 40-/60-percent front/rear weight distribution for optimal handling at high speed. The driver and passenger are located near the low center of gravity, leaving them less affected by the movements of the vehicle with greater confidence and control. With an industry-leading 17/18 inches of front/rear suspension travel and 13 inches of ground clearance, the Wildcat X delivers comfort and control in nearly every condition. The 5-point, multi-link trailing-arm rear suspension design keeps the rear tires planted while the suspension moves through its travel for unmatched traction and control. To smooth out the industry-leading suspension travel, the Wildcat X has FOX Podium gas shocks, which deliver outstanding dampening duties complete with 23-position compression adjustment. The X Limited raises the bar higher with Elka Stage 5 shocks with high and low speed compression dampening, as well as rebound adjustment. Powering the X models is the liquid-cooled VDP FROM PAGE 16 CONTINUED where 80 employees share three eight-hour shifts. When VDP needs components from outside manufacturers, each piece is opened and quality checked before being used or distributed. The company goes to great lengths to assure that customers receive high-quality products in packaging that will keep them protected until opened. They also include TEAM Rapid Response clutches and electronic selectable 2WD/4WD and front differential lock. Braking performance has been enhanced for 2014 with a new brake pedal that features a new lever ratio for more aggressive feel of the four-wheel hydraulic brakes and new dualpiston calipers for additional braking power. Keeping the steering light and precise is the Variable Assist Electronic Power Steering (EPS) system that initiates at engine idle for reduced steering effort when in 4WD, especially when the differential lock is engaged. The result is a light steering input effort when negotiating tough obstacles like washouts, rocks and mud, but with enough feedback so the driver senses the tire contact patch in relation to the terrain. Other comfort-and-control features include high back bucket seats with upper body supports and 3-point seat belts; plus tube-frame doors with integrated nets to compliment the exterior lines. Class-leading LED headlights and taillights shine extra bright, while a 300-pound payload rear compartment is large enough to carry a cooler and a Jerry can of gas. Machined, castaluminum wheels, automotive-style paint and tilt steering complete the package. The X model offers color-matched bucket seats, under-seat storage, a glovebox, aluminum front and rear bumpers, bed-mounted tiedown hooks and Maxxis Bighorn tires. The new X Limited, a new model for 2014, gets the same features as the X, plus full-aluminum doors, a sleek molded roof, Elka Stage 5 shocks, true aluminum beadlock wheels and ITP Black Water Evolution Tires. PSB "I do everything from the bottom until the product's in a box, shipped back and forth UPS twice to New York and back, and I know the box and the product won't get damaged. Then it's ready to sell," Jacobson said. Since teaming up with Parts Unlimited a few years ago, VDP's side-by-side product volumes have quadrupled. Jacobson has worked hard with reps and dealers to offer them the best advice for selling and profiting from his products. This summer VDP released new point-of-purchase signage to highlight all the products in its side-by-side line. He says physically stocking the product is the best way to make it move. "Put up a couple of items that people can say, 'Oh, there are accessories available.' Don't make them dig out a book," he advised. "Show some stuff that everyone has an appeal for, like a 6-Can Cooler, an Organizer Bag, everything that's under $30, then hang the POP chart with a sound system under it all and say, 'We carry this entire line.' Then people are coming over and going 'Oh, there's a whole world here we didn't know existed, the world of UTV accessories.'" Though VDP's side-by-side line has nearly reached the number of Jeep products the company carries, the work is never done. Jacobson's mind is always searching for the next great "gotta-have-it" product. "Fortunately everybody likes our line," he said. "It's a friendly, cheerful, makes-youhappy kind of product line. We're not selling spark plugs; we're selling beer holders and sound." PSB The 2014 Arctic Cat Wildcat X Limited is powered by a liquid-cooled 951cc Arctic Cat H2 V-twin 4-stroke with Electronic Fuel Injection. It also includes TEAM Rapid Response clutches and electronic selectable 2WD/4WD and front differential lock. 12/18/13 11:16 AM
