OPEAA announces 2011 Bill Nelson Scholarship Endowment recipients
The Outdoor Power Equipment Aftermarket Association (OPEAA) recently announced the recipients of the 2011 Bill Nelson Scholarship Endowment. The endowment is an educational char- ity designed to advance the academic pur- suits of employees and the children of employees working for member companies of OPEAA. This year, it awarded a total of four $2,500 scholarships to Jillian Andrews, Mesa, Ariz.; Elizabeth Childers, Plymouth, Ohio; Garett Hull, Springfield, Mo.; and Tyler Martin, Reidsville, Ga. Jillian Andrews is currently pursuing her bachelor of arts degree in creative writing with minors in Spanish and political sci- ence at the University of Arizona. She is ex- pected to graduate in May 2012. After graduation, Jillian is planning on joining the Peace Corps in order to contribute to the education of children in a Third World country. She plans on pursuing a master’s of fine arts during and following her tour overseas. Andrews is a second-time recipi- ent of the Bill Nelson Scholarship Endow-
ment. Her father, Jeff, is employed by Desert Extrusion Corporation. Elizabeth Childers is a first-year student
at Ohio Wesleyan University, pursuing her degree in journalism and English with a concentration in creative writing and a minor in humanities and classics. She is ex- pected to graduate in May 2013. After graduation, Childers intends to enter grad- uate school to work toward her master’s degree in English; she is also considering different legal programs. Her mother, Lil- lian, is employed by MTD Products Inc. Garett Hull is graduating from Kickapoo High School this year and has received a scholarship to attend the University of Mis- souri Columbia, majoring in biological en- gineering with the option of later attending medical school. Hull participated on the varsity track and cross country teams, and he was a member of the Na- tional Honor Society. His father, Matt, is employed by Carlisle Power Transmissions. Tyler Martin is graduating with honors from Tattnall County High School, where

he ranked fourth in his class. He was a re- cipient of the Georgia Certificate of Merit. Martin was a member of the cross country team and received the team’s academic award. After graduation, Martin will be at- tending Georgia Southern University, where he will major in engineering. His father, Don, is employed by Rotary Corporation.
