MOWERS AND MORE | Turf Aerators Billy Goat’s AE401 aerator Billy Goat’s 19-inch-wide AE401 aerator offers many unique features. It completely eliminates the conventional and cum- bersome filling of the center drum found on competitive units, which is also prone to wear, vibration and damage. In addi- tion, the unit eliminates bulky steel weights in favor of a simple-to-use water weight positioned directly over the tines for better aeration depth. The drive and tine engagement is a snap to operate. Tilt-up serviceability, removable tine stars, Fold-n-Go handles, and easy-adjust drive chains make service and transport convenient and simple. Billy Goat Industries BlueBird 530 lawn aerator Greater productivity, better maneuverability and a user-friendly design are just a few of the features that make the Blue- Bird 530 lawn aerator a breeze to operate. BlueBird’s patented, free-wheeling tine system allows even inexperienced users to easily aerate corners and tight areas. Operators of the 530 will appreciate its simple design and low mainte- nance costs. A folding handle, lift handles and semi-pneumatic front tire provide easy transport, while removable side weights offer optimal soil penetration and balance for easier slope aeration. BlueBird Buffalo Turbine Sandevil attachment The Sandevil attachment from Buffalo Turbine is capable of improving the aerification process on larger jobs in addition to minimizing turf damage. The Sandevil is designed to use the “turbine-powered air” produced by the Model KB blower to evenly spread top dressing material into aerification holes up to 1/2 inch. The turbulent air is diverted and baffled downward, forcing the top dressing material into aerification holes or thatch. In dry conditions, 3 passes may be needed to fill the aerification holes. Larger holes and moist conditions require additional passes. Buffalo Turbine LLC Classen TA-17D and TA-25D self-propelled split-drive aerators Classen TA-17D and TA-25D self-propelled split-drive aerators take the backbreaking work out of aerating large areas. With Classen’s patented split-drive technology, operators can steer, turn, and aerate an entire job without removing the tines from the ground. Two features allow for non-stop aeration: user-friendly dual controls on the main handle for steer- ing around corners, trees, sand traps, etc., and “all-tine” propulsion. Every tine is used to propel each unit in forward and reverse. By utilizing each tine, operators achieve consistent deep penetration and precise controlled steering (without slippage — even on slopes and side hills), increasing productivity and minimizing operator fatigue. Classen/Schiller Grounds Care, Inc. Grasshopper AERA-vator The PTO-driven AERA-vator aerates and loosens compacted soil in one-quarter the time using one-quarter the labor of walk-behind units, eliminating cores and increasing water absorption in the root zone. Oscillating steel tines deep- fracture hard, dry soil to create a more resilient surface on playing fields, as well as improve permeability and drainage. The Grasshopper Co. Husqvarna AR19 aerator Husqvarna’s handy and efficient hollow-tine aerators are self propelled and feature free-wheeling outer tines for better maneuverability around corners and tight areas with less turf damage. Additional side weights allow for improved soil penetration and are removable for reduced effort when lifting or for altering weight balance on slopes and inclines. The AR19 (pictured) has a folding operator handle, lift handles and semi-pneumatic front tire for easy transport and storage. This 5-hp. unit has a 19-inch aerating width and can reach depths up to 3 inches. Husqvarna Professional Products, Inc. John Deere’s Aercore 2000 With an 80-inch coring swath (20 inches larger than the 1500 model), John Deere’s Aercore 2000 is a tractor-mounted aerator attachment that delivers high productivity without sacrificing hole quality, durability or ease of service. This aera- tor, designed to produce good quality coring holes up to 4 inches deep, can cover 100,066 square feet and produce 1,200,800 holes per hour. Its heavy-duty frame, tine rams and adjustable hole spacing make this aerator durable and versatile. Operators have a choice of 2 coring patterns — a 2.4-inch pattern or a 3.2-inch pattern, depending on the speed of movement — and 6 tine options.
