PORTABLE POWER | Spreaders & Sprayers Bobcat sprayer Bobcat sprayer is manufactured to fit the Toolcat utility work machine and Bobcat utility vehicles. The sprayers are designed for chemical applications, ranging from spot spraying for weed control to broadcast spraying of liquid fertilizer and chemicals. All sprayer tank components are mounted to a formed steel skid-frame, which is fastened to the bed of the machines by drilling holes in the tailgate and securing with bolts. Sprayer flow is controlled by a pump on/off switch conveniently mounted in the console of the Toolcat machine, or within easy reach on front of the skid for utility vehicles. The spring-loaded boom wings break away horizontally (fore and aft) and vertically to help protect the boom on rough terrain or in case an obstacle is struck. Bobcat Co. Cub Cadet Commercial’s XP spreader/sprayer The 3-in-1 XP stand-on spreader/sprayer features liquid, granular and spot-spray capabilities designed for commercial users. Its hopper can hold 125 pounds while 2 separate 5-gallon tanks can be used together or independently through a spot spray wand or by using the boomless sprayer nozzle. Priced at less than $4,000, the XP spreader/sprayer also includes a premium electric-start 6-hp. Kawasaki engine, hydrostatic transmission, variable-speed drive and a 1-year commercial warranty. For landscapers who own a LESCO HP or Cub Cadet Commercial XP, a retro kit is available. Cub Cadet Commercial Echo’s MS-40BP backpack sprayer With a 4-gallon capacity, Echo’s MS-40BP backpack sprayer covers more ground with commercial-duty power and lasting per- formance in an easy-to-carry sprayer unit, allowing landscape professionals to easily apply chemicals over large areas of turf and landscape. A 90-psi, large-diameter piston pump allows for quick pressure and less pumping. All critical seals are made of chemically resistant Viton material, allowing for extended use of harsh chemicals and durability. A 4-stage filter extends the sprayer’s life, and UV inhibitors provide protection from sun exposure. The unit comes with 3 nozzles (brass adjustable, fixed fan, fixed cone) and requires no tools to assemble. Echo Inc. Grasshopper shielded sprayers Aerodynamically designed for an even spray, Grasshopper shielded sprayers apply a constant, accurate balance of small droplets that “sticks” to vegetation, achieving greater coverage with fewer chemicals. Shielded sprayers offer an efficient and cost-effective way to apply liquid fertilizers, pesticides, herbicides and adjuvant, especially for large-acreage applications, cov- ering up to 5.5 acres with 1 tank. Independent floating chambers follow the ground contours for precise application, and Grasshopper zero-turn maneuverability is maintained, even in tight spaces. The sprayer implement provides operators quick and easy mounting, removal and storage. They are available in 53- or 133-inch widths and 30-gallon capacities for all Grasshopper mowers. The Grasshopper Co. Gravely WB-182 walking boom sprayer The Gravely WB-182 walking boom sprayer is a force multiplier when it comes to spraying jobs too small or too delicate for a truck-mounted unit. Featuring an 82-inch spray width, the WB-182 folds to a mere 28 inches wide for storage and transport. Eight nozzles are fed individually to ensure equal volume and an even application. The sprayer’s light footprint makes it an ideal choice for new or delicate turf surfaces. A speedometer, pressure gauge and industrial-duty hand control gun allow oper- ators to maintain a consistent and controlled spray without excess fatigue. The WB-182 comes with Gravely’s limited 1-year warranty. Gravely, an Ariens Co. Husqvarna BP5 professional backpack sprayer The Husqvarna BP5 professional backpack sprayer is recommended for landscaping, golf course management, forestry, farm- ing, pest control, arborists and property maintenance. It can be used with herbicides, pesticides, insecticides, fertilizers, chlorine-based materials, diesel, wettable powders, stains, sealers and oil-based and solvent-based chemicals. The BP5 fea- tures a 15- to 80-psi working pressure, 168-psi maximum pressure, internal double-lipped piston pump (repairable), 5.3-gallon capacity, heavy-duty polyethylene tank with UV inhibitors, critical seals and O-rings made of Viton/Nytril formulation, 20-inch brass wand with adjustable brass nozzle and fan nozzles, 51-inch industrial hose, premium-quality spray pistol with brass shutoff pin and double O-rings, 6-inch tank mouth with strainer, tubular steel pump handle with ball grip, lid with carrying han- dle, heavy-duty adjustable padded shoulder straps, wand storage clip, and built-in paddle agitation for wettable powders. Husqvarna Professional Products, Inc. John Deere HD200 and HD300 sprayers John Deere’s HD200 and HD300 sprayers offer flexibility with a choice of centrifugal or diaphragm pumps, manual or auto- matic rate controls, and boom options that come standard with an electro-hydraulic lift. More versatile than a single-purpose sprayer, no tools are needed for tank removal, and storage stands allow the operator to get more out of the vehicle, even while not spraying. The optional CleanLoad chemical agitator makes it easy to load chemicals by ensuring that every last drop is used, and a powerful jet agitator makes sure the tank solution is mixed thoroughly. An efficient valve bank design simplifies op- eration and plumbing, while standard triple nozzle bodies make nozzle changes effortless. Controls are mounted at the opera- tor’s fingertips and can be removed without tools for storage. John Deere OUTDOOR POWER EQUIPMENT AUGUST 2011 21
