Welcome to Milwaukee County. As Milwaukee County Executive, I invite you to share the unequaled opportunities our county offers this and every fall for family activities, golfing, and outdoor recreation, especially in our National Gold Medal Winning Park System. Visitors can view autumn colors at any of our more than 150 beautiful county parks and parkways totaling almost 15,000 acres. These include six beautiful parks with gorgeous views of Lake Michigan, many close to downtown. Fall is the perfect time to visit farmers markets, and Milwaukee County has plenty of them, including the South Shore,Walker Square, East Town, andWestown markets. For golf lovers, Milwaukee County offers 15 courses of varying lengths, challenging all skill levels. Finally, Milwaukee County hosts numerous Halloween family activities, including Halloween Haunts atWehr Nature Center (Oct. 13-15), the Pumpkin Pavilion at Humboldt Park (Oct. 19-23), Halloween Nite-Glow Golf at Warnimont and Hansen Golf Courses (Oct. 28), and Ghosts Under Glass at The Domes (Oct. 28). The University of Wisconsin - Milwaukee, Marquette University, and the Milwaukee School of Engineering have extensive pro- grams of study, respected faculty and high-achieving students. Other Milwaukee colleges with excellent reputations include Milwaukee Institute of Art and Design, Alverno College, Mount Mary College and Cardinal Stritch University. Take a closer look and you will find some surprising attractions including the Haggerty Art Museum at Marquette, the Grohmann Museum at Milwaukee School of Engineering and the extensive Golda Meir Library at the University of Wisconsin- Milwaukee. You can attend a wide range of artistic performances, exhibitions,sporting events and lectures at our univer- sities. The schools' websites are the best place to begin your exploration. I encourage you to include a stop at a Milwaukee university during your trip to Milwaukee.
