18 • OCTOBER 2015 • WORLD FENCE NEWS Everlasting Fence founder remembered for kindness and willingness to help Michael J. Hensley, 54, founder and president of Everlasting Fence, Glenside, Pennsylvania, died sudden- ly on August 1, 2015. Mr. Hensley opened the company in 1980, at the age of 19, and built it into a commercial and res- idential operation with two locations in Pennsylvania. "Mike worked tirelessly to build Everlasting Fence into what it has become today – a fam- ily and a home," said Bob Hensley, Mr. Hensley's brother and co-own- er of Everlasting Fence. "Despite his great accomplishments, Mike will be remembered for so much more than that. He was so kind and willing to help everyone, and his one of a kind sense of humor kept everyone smiling and laughing. "After one meeting with Mike, you would want him to be your best friend. We had more calls from Mike's friends than we did custom- ers," he said. "Our hearts are heavy as we say goodbye to our owner and good friend. He will truly be missed but never forgotten." Born on October 1, 1960, Mr. Hensley is survived by his wife, Me- gan Hensley, and his five children, Jo- seph Hirsch, Anthony Hensley, Shane Dunn, Mya Hensley and Sully "Mi- chael" Hensley. He was the son of the late Roland and Anna Hensley, and brother of Robert Hensley, Carol Anne Hensley and Patricia Stuckert. Michael J. Led by a strong jump in sin- gle-family production, nationwide housing starts inched up 0.2 percent to a seasonally adjusted annual rate of 1.206 million units in July, according to newly released data from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development and the Commerce De- partment. This is the highest level since Oc- tober 2007. Single-family starts rose 12.8 per- cent to a seasonally adjusted annual rate of 782,000 units after an upward- ly revised June reading while multi- family production fell 17 percent to 424,000 units. "Our builders are reporting more confidence in the market, and are stepping up production of single-fam- ily homes as a result," said NAHB chairman Tom Woods, a home build- er from Blue Springs, Mo. "However, builders are still reporting problems accessing land and labor." "This month's drop in the more volatile multifamily side is a return to trend after an unusually high June," said NAHB chief economist David Crowe. "While multifamily produc- tion has fully recovered from the downturn, single-family starts are improving at a slow and sometimes intermittent rate as consumer confi- dence gradually rebounds. Continued job and economic growth will keep single-family housing moving for- ward." Regionally in July, combined sin- gle- and multifamily starts rose by 20.1 percent in the Midwest and 7.7 percent in the South. The Northeast and West posted respective losses of 27.5 percent and 3.1 percent. After several months of permit gains, overall permits fell 16.3 percent in July. Single-family permits dipped 1.9 percent to a rate of 679,000 while mul- tifamily permits dropped 31.8 percent to 440,000. Single-family gains push housing starts to highest level since 2007 REDI Driver
