KEY SPORTS Brewers and Cardinals open season April 6 CTHE MILWAUKEE BREWERS, National League Central Division champion in 2011, open the season this month against the team that kept them from playing in the World Series last fall. The St. Louis Cardinals visit Miller Park April 6 to renew the division rivalry and open the Brewers season. Both the Cardinals and the Brewers will be without a key part of their 2011 squads. Brewer slugger Prince Fielder is now with the Detroit Tigers in the American League and an even bigger name, long-time Cardinal Albert Pujols, is now with the LA Angels in the American League. In his second season as manager, Ron Roenicke fields a solid rotation of starting pitchers, a strong bullpen, some new bats and much better defensive team. "As it turns out, there are a couple of areas in which the Brewers could be substantially better this season than they were in 2011," comments Mike Bauman, national sports columnist with MLB.com and a former columnist for the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel. On page 8 of this issue, KEY Milwaukee spe- cial correspondent Christopher Peppas pro- vides a detailed rundown of the newcomers and veterans who will take the field this year for the Brewers. The Brewers play in Miller Park, a state-of- the-art facility with a retractable roof that guarantees all games are played. Miller Park has consistently been ranked as one of the top baseball stadiums in the country.
