LEGAL LANE ized repairs are an especially annoying problem. If the mechanic has made any unauthorized repairs, not on the original estimate and unrelated to the original problem, you may be able to sue the mechanic for those unauthorized repairs. However, if the shop made those repairs in a good faith effort to fix a problem along the way, the best move could be to just pay for the repairs — but the option is still yours. Many times the repair shop will give you a limited warranty on their repairs, such as 10 to 30 days or for so many miles. Should they offer you a war- ranty, it will be covered under the 1975 Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act, which covers all consumer product warran- ties. The act requires every warranty to be written in plain, easy-to-understand language; designated as either 'full' or 'limited'; and available to the consumer before the purchase.
