Hey, when the heck did we get this clean cut, anyway?! After all this shopping, looking, bike-sitting, test-riding, hair-chopping fun, just when you think it couldn't be more amazing, they weren't done with you yet. Out in back of the hall, by the tasty food trucks, the Metal Mullisha Fitz Army boys were fl ying through the air with their death-defy- ing freestyle motocross show. Jimmy Fitzpatrick, Destin Cantrell and Cal Valone sailed 100 feet in the air upside down, sideways and backwards doing fl ips, whips, heel-clickers, no-footed cans, and nac-nacs, as the crowd yelled and cheered for more. Inspiration is what a show like this is all about. At the end of the day I walked out to my bike at the far end of the parking lot. Everyone I passed was excitedly getting their bikes ready to ride back to wherever they lived. There were lots of smiles. Even I, jaded moto-journalist that I am, just couldn't wait to fi re up my old bike and get those two gyroscopes turn- ing as I fl owed out of the parking lot and out onto the highway home. I had spent the day around and among motorcyclists of every stripe and style, riding every possible brand and confi guration of motorcycle there is. Everybody got along. I couldn't help but think, as I accelerated, leaning into the curve of the on ramp onto the Long Beach freeway for the hun- dred-mile ride home, that in life, as in motorcycling, we have so much more in common with each other than that which divides us. If only the rest of the world would catch on. 4 The Metal Mullisha Fitz Army fl ew through the air in their freestyle motocross stunt show Dyno-simulator provided the thrill of the highway without the bugs in the teeth
