8 nJanuary 2017n www.thunderpress.net THUNDER PRESS by Diane "Shadow's Wife" Jones LAKE ELSINORE, CALIF., DEC. 3—There is defi nitely something odd about the words "Hell" and "toy" in the same sentence, but not when it includes the Hell's Angels. That is a whole different story. The Rside (short for Riverside) Hell's Angels are a fun-loving, giving, band of brothers, a biker club with the heart of Santa Claus when it comes to children. While I know some of our read- ers are enduring fl urries of snow and buckets of rain, we had to endure a day of extraordinarily beautiful sun- shine in Lake Elsinore, California. It was a tad chilly with a high that day of 66 degrees and some of us had to wear a long-sleeved shirt or sweatshirt—a bit cumbersome, sorry to say. Part of the entry to the event required a toy and toys were brought in by the armload, bike load and car load. Some families came with chil- dren who brought their own toy gifts, learning from an early age the joy of giving is as important and fulfi lling as the joy of receiving. The pile of stuffed animals, Barbie dolls, Legos, Play Doh, beautiful bicycles and more was a sight to see. This toy run was jam packed with a lot of entertainment and vendors. Right up front was Jiffy Tune Dyno Testing brought in by Eric of Jiffy Tune in Lake Elsinore. They have a shop but also have the mobile unit, which they deploy to events where you could have your bike checked out for torque and horsepower. The air was fi lled with the roar of engines pushed to the edge throughout the day as some bad-ass bikes were tested, with one of the bikes exceeding 100 hp. Very cool to know exactly what you've got going on with your ride when you're diving and dodging out on the streets and highways with crazy southern California drivers. Yep, this is a down- side to enduring the harsh southern California weather. If you grew tired of listening to the roar of motors out front, you could opt to listen to the musical entertain- ment out back provided by local band Inhale, and by great friend of the club, Big B, straight out of Vegas, who just released a new album, Drunk in the Garage. Both acts were excellent. There were some great vendors such as Bob's Biker Bits, Chopper Kings, the Cigar Peddler and others selling their merchandise, cigars, jew- elry, leather, clothing, handlebars and more. Temecula Harley-Davidson had a booth with bikes and merchandise and best of all they brought along the Temecula Harley Angels, Ashley, Emily, Angelica and Tabby who were all decked out to be Santa's helpers for the day, receiving toys, posing for pic- tures and even participating in the arm wrestling challenge. Steve Harriman from Riverside Boxing Club was making the case for the arm wrestling competition from the minute you walked in the gates until the competition began later that after- noon. Fortunately or unfortunately, his charm enlisted more women and Temecula Harley Angels to compete. The women put on a good show and several of guys, Dan the Man and Guns in the heavyweight round and Tuna and D-Boy in the challenge match, also put their strength and fortitude on display. There were no winners or losers because they all had fun and walked away with a coveted Rside HA shirt. The tri-tip served up by the Rib Shack out of Fallbrook was amazing in conjunction with the full- service mobile bar Counting Spokes. The raffl es and giveaways led up to the sought-after custom-painted mailbox, which went to a young kid, Blake, who was so excited that he won what all the adults were hoping to win. This was defi nitely a family-friendly event. Even though the venue was on a smaller scale, there was plenty of room for the Nonamers FMX crew, Vinnie Carbone, Colby Raha and Robert Franco, to pull off some amazing, high-fl ying stunts that towered over the building and faded off into the mountain backdrop. These guys are insane; it was hard to take our eyes off their stage. There was a fantastic turnout with clubs from all over southern California, with everyone enjoying the day. Rside Hell's Angels' 11th annual Toy Run was a great success with a load of toys that will be distributed to several local community churches that will disburse the toys to families in need of a lift up this Christmas. 4 RIVERSIDE HELL'S ANGELS TOY RUN MANPOWER MEETS HORSEPOWER Santa and his helpers bring joy through toys Nonamers FMX rider fl yin' high Temecula Harley Angel and Dan "the man" showing how it is done HA Paul taking delivery of some special toys from some special girls
