Mr. McCutcheon was a founding partner of USAutomatic, LTD, which under his partici- pation came to manufacture sev- eral of the best known gate oper- ator brands in the industry, includ- ing the Patriot, Ranger and RSL. He was born Tom McCutcheon in Teaneck, New Jersey on October 9, 1947 to Charles and Dorothy Mc- ® corrugated Cutcheon. He spent many years in the restau- rant industry before partnering with USAutomatic in 1996, and served in the U.S. Air Force during the Vietnam War. Mr. McCutcheon is survived by his wife, Judy Ellen McCutcheon; son, Matthew McCutcheon; mother, Dorothy Pantaleon; sister, Jacki Robertson; brother, Chuck Mc- Cutcheon; and loving grandchildren He was preceded in death by his father, Charles McCutcheon. He was an avid fisherman and a member of the Professional Disc Golf Association. The award is named for Les Grube, a past president of CLFMI and a fence industry pioneer. The award, which includes a uniquely-designed plaque and a cash amount of $2,500 given to the design- ing architect and $1,000 to the in- stalling contractor, is presented to the project which makes the best and most unique use of chain link fence materi- als, said CLFMI executive vice-presi- dent Mark Levin. The 2011 award was won by Beth Galson (the designer) and Bartek Konieczny (the installer) for their work on the "Serpentine Fence Proj- ect" in Boston. (See below.) Previous winners of the award in- clude Pritzker award-winner Frank Gehry, Venice, Calif.; Arai/Jackson Ar- chitects, Seattle, Wash.; and Don M. Hisaka and Associates, Cambridge, Mass. Unique park fence is latest winner in fence industry design award contest The winner of the Chain Link Fence Manufacturers Institute (CLFMI) 2011 Les Grube Memorial Design Award was architectural de- signer Beth Galson and installer Bartek Konieczny for their work on the "Serpentine Fence Project" in Boston. They join the ranks of previ- ous winners who demonstrated unique and innovative ways to use chain link.
