14 • OCTOBER 2013 • WORLD FENCE NEWS Electradrop provides secure locking of automated swing gates Locinox has introduced the Electradrop, which it says is "the new benchmark for the safe locking of automated swing gates." The Electradrop drop bolt combines an ease of installation with a sleek design and bolt with a 115 mm (4-1/2") throw. "The electric motors of an automated gate are always under pressure from the wind, among other outside forces," the company said. "A drop bolt resolves this by safely securing the gate in the ground. This results in a longer service life of the gate motors and the gate in general." The Electradrop is unique because of its bolt's long throw, Locinox said, adding that drop bolts with a shorter bolt are ineffective on certain terrains and cannot be installed in all possible locations without making adjustments which detract from the appearance of the installation. The manufacturer noted that the opening and closing of the Electradrop is linked to the warning light of the gate. The drop bolt opens automatically and closes three seconds after the warning light has stopped blinking. The Locinox R&D department has also engineered the installation to be easy and quick due to the patented Quick-Fix fixings which are already present on the product. The installer only needs to drill the right sized holes and mount the Electradrop, after which it is ready to be connected to the electrical system of the gate. The Electradrop automatically detects obstacles and stops when it exceeds a pressure of 18 kg (40 pounds). The drop bolt adjusts itself automatically to the terrain on which it is used. In the case of an emergency or power failure, the Electradrop can be released manually by key.
