FOCUS PSB UTV-Sport 32 • July 13, 2014 • Powersports Business www.PowersportsBusiness.com 2008 RZR 800 leads category views on KBB.com The following report from Lisa Pelissier, senior powersports analyst at Kelley Blue Book, describes the state of the pre-owned sport UTV market. Interest in sport UTVs is strong. The 2008 Polaris Ranger RZR 800 leads the list of the Top 10 Most Researched Sport UTVs, receiving an impressive 10 percent of all KBB.com web hits through May 3 1 . H o w e v e r, t h e overall number of web hits the Polaris Ranger RZR 800 received was actually down 7 per- cent year-over-year. The Polaris Ranger RZR series took all 10 spots on the Top 10 Most Researched Sport UTV list. The 10 models on the list accounted for 41 percent of the total amount of KBB.com Web hits in 2014 to-date. Interest is rising in more current models. This is seen most clearly on the Sport UTV list, where all of the 2008-10 models show decreased interest from the same time period in 2013, and all of the 2011-13 models showed an increase. The Top 10 Most Researched Utility UTV list was volatile compared to 2013, with drops in interest as much as 37 percent and increases of up to 28 percent. The trend toward interest in newer vehicles also is apparent for utility UTVs, with two 2013 models appearing in the top 10. Polaris dominates the Top 10 Most Researched Util- ity UTV list, with the only exception being the 2007 Kawasaki Mule 610 4x4. Recreational UTVs, a crossover category between sport UTVs and utility UTVs, also demon- strated volatility. Within the Top 10, some vehi- cles showed in increase in KBB.com web hits of as much as 38 percent, while other vehicles demonstrated a drop in KBB.com web hits of as much as 28 percent.
