TriLatch recognized for enhancing pool safety
Safetech Hardware's TriLatch
Pool Gate Safety Latch recently cap-
tured the 2014 Gold Award of Excel-
lence during ceremonies hosted by the
Victoria chapter of Australia's Swim-
ming Pool and Spa Association (SPA-
SA).
The TriLatch triple-safety pool
gate latch was entered by Safetech
Hardware under the "best control"
category sponsored by Australia's
Splash magazine.
"This is further testimony to the
contribution our TriLatch World's
Safest Pool Gate Latch makes to en-
hancing swimming pool safety," com-
mented Audrius Macernis, Safetech
Hardware's research and development
manager. "Earlier this year the design
received the Silver Product Innovation
Award presented by the South Austra-
lia chapter of SPASA and was named
a fi nalist in the prestigious Good De-
sign Awards held in Sydney."
Safetech's TriLatch puts child
safety fi rst in terms of construction
and operation, Macernis said.
Its triple safety features include a
combination pushbutton and lift knob
positioned at least 5 feet (152 cm)
above ground. In three simultaneous
steps the button must be depressed (1)
and held (2) to allow the knob to be
raised (3) and unlatch the gate.
According to Macernis, "This ac-
tivity cannot be performed by a child
using a garden rake or other imple-
ment to disengage the latch."
The pool gate lock provides add-
ed security when the swimming area
is closed or temporarily unsupervised.
Access to the swimming area
is further controlled when gates are
equipped with Safetech's TopKlik ad-
justable-tension self-closing pool gate
hinges. Tension is adjusted with the
supplied allen key and the hinges can
be fi tted with a cap to discourage their
use as a step.

National Vinyl Products
expands vinyl fence
profi le offerings with
"Embossed Series"
NEPHI, Utah — The team at
National Vinyl Products (NVP) has
announced the addition of an "Em-
bossed Series" to their ever-expanding
line of vinyl fence profi les.
Working in partnership with a
seasoned extru-
sion machinery
company, NVP
has developed
a highly de-
tailed etched
woodgrain de-
sign which is
impressed on the
surface of the
fence profi le, pre-
serving the durable layer of UV and
color protection, while giving both the
look and feel of an actual wood grain.
"It is exciting to bring to market
an alternative to the basic white vinyl
fence which appears to some consum-
ers as too 'glossy'," said NVP direc-
tor of sales and marketing, Michael
Clayson.
"This new Embossed Series gives
both a texture look to the fence, as
well as dampens that bright glossy
look of a typical vinyl fence.
"Another great benefi t that many
of the fence professionals have noted
is that the embossing feature elim-
inates the concerns of scratches or
marks during transport and installa-
tion, which can lead to wasteful scrap,
something that is always a challenge
with the typical gloss fi nish of vinyl,"
he said.
To further enhance the effects of
the new embossing feature, Nation-
al Vinyl Products also produces a
woodgrain "streaked" product, using
a process where varying highlight col-
ors are streaked in the color surface
giving a variegated look to the fence.
This woodgrain streaking has
been a part of the NVP product line
for nearly two years, and continues
to signifi cantly grow in popularity,
Clayson noted.
The Embossed Series will be
available in both solid colors and the
woodgrain streaked colors on limited
rail, post and picket profi les.
