Herb Borner and Jim Hart The lighter side of the fence business As we all know, some nutty things happen in this business. Sometimes it's an out-of-the-blue situation on a jobsite, sometimes it's a loony (OK, crazy) customer, sometimes the crew (or boss) gets it all wrong (AKA Pete and Jake). As painful as it might be to re-live these situations, we would like to invite WFN readers to send us their wildest (and funniest) "war stories" to be shared with the fencing community nationwide. We always welcome ideas for good old Pete and Jake cartoons, and this is basically the same, just in story form. Please do not use anyone's real name, in order to protect the guilty. We will, of course, mention the name of the person submitting the story, and their company. We know there are some great stories out there just waiting to be shared. Put your thinking caps on and spread the hilarity! Topics can include anything funny that happened on an installation, in the yard or office, or on a sales call. New edition of Fencer's Almanac on the horizon At the time this was written we were completing work on the 2015 edition of The Fencer's Almanac, our comprehensive directory of suppliers to the fence, gate and access control industries. The pub- lication date will be November 14, 2014, and it will be distributed to all World Fence News readers as part of their subscriptions. This is the 30th edition of the Almanac, and it contains prod- uct listings and contact information from the broadest possible range of suppliers of all types of fencing, gates, gate operators and access control products and tools. It also includes updated listings for the branch locations of the major wholesalers to the industry. Watch for it!
