Subcontractors learn what makes incentive compensation most effective with new FASA video-on-demand ALEXANDRIA, Va. — Con- struction subcontractors are learning what makes incentive compensa- tion most effective with a new vid- eo-on-demand from the Foundation of the American Subcontractors As- sociation. In the on-demand video, Common Practices and Effectiveness of Incentive Compensation, Radek Knesl, FMI, Tampa, Fla., examines seven critical issues that are common practices in the construction industry that subcontractors need to address to improve the effectiveness of their in- centive program. Knesl explains why paying discre- tionary bonuses are not effective for moving a company forward and how total rewards can attract and retain the best talent and increase the company's return on investment. Knesl illustrates how subcontractors can effectively balance the incentives to minimize unintended consequences, such as divisional silos and free riders, and shares how subcontractors can avoid the pitfall of paying out bonuses in lean years and ensure adequate time for proper transitions to new plans. This and other on-demand videos are available through FASA's Con- tractors' Knowledge Depot.
