The study, championed by CDK senior analyst Hal Ethington, shows that the average amount of accessories sold with the purchase of an adventure unit has climbed from $375 in 2011 to $538 in 2015, a rise of 43.4 percent. The average adventure unit sold for $8,004 in 2011, and has increased to $8,141 in 2015. The study of data from U.S. adventure bike dealers further shows that: In 2011, adventure units were 4.4 percent of all motorcycle units sold. After reaching a Yamaha's Black Side Case for the Super Ténéré was among the top selling accesso- ries in the adventure touring segment in 2014 among CDK Global dealers.
