64 ��� MARCH 2013 ��� WORLD FENCE NEWS March 1988 Here are some articles and issues that were being covered in the March 1988 edition of World Fence News, 25 years ago this month. ��� The cover story explained OSHA hazard communication regulations regarding fence crews who work with concrete, solvents and other common installation materials and informing them of the hazards. Not everyone agreed with these new regulations, the article noted. ��� The issue contained a discussion on the log shortage in the Pacific Northwest and the effect on cedar supplies. ��� WFN contributing editor Herb Borner presented some ideas on how to professionally handle those ���special��� gate installations. ��� There���s no question the Yellow Pages reach a lot of people, but designing an ad that will pull them is another matter, noted one columnist. ��� Welding is basic to ornamental fence and gate fabrication. Ornamental iron fabricator Roger Scott detailed some basics of welding that can help you do a better job. ��� Dr. Leon Danco told how to get March 1988 cover Through the Years with World Fence News the most from your business advisors. March 1993 Here are some articles and items that were being covered in the March 1993 edition of World Fence News, 20 years ago this month. ��� The cover photo for March was a picture of ���Pete and Jake��� at FENCETECH���93 shown with a couple of attendees. Also on the cover was a picture of James ���Odis��� Griffin of Griffin Fence Co., Inc. of Houston, standing beside former first lady Barbara Bush. He had sold the former president and first lady a black vinyl-coated chain link fence at their rented home in Houston, to contain their famous dog, Millie. The main cover article addressed the on-going issue of Sears considering closing the home improvement division of their business. ��� Brown Fence Co. of Chattanooga, Tenn., had recently observed its 100 year anniversary. The company was founded by T. Walter Brown in 1892. It has been a family business ever since. ��� One of the major announcements during the 31st annual convention of the IFIA (now the AFA), whose theme was Soaring to New Heights, was the publication of a strategic plan for the organization. ��� Everybody pinches pennies in rough times, but if the economy seems to be picking up in your part of the country, that is even more reason to reexamine your company���s operations and be sure you are wringing out every bit of profit possible, said Phil Perry. ��� WFN contributing editor Jim Lucci said that a few types of personal insurance may be all most people need, but if you are a business owner, your insurance needs and choices increase dramatically. March 2003 Here are some articles and items that were being covered in the March 2003 issue of World Fence News, 10 years ago this month. ��� The cover for March showed pictures from Northwest Fence Co., headquartered in Coeur d���Alene, Idaho. The photos revealed a sampling of the massive installation that Northwest Fence completed at the Black Rock Development on Lake Coeur d���Alene and at the project owner���s ranch in nearby Harrison. Some 16,000 lineal feet of Bufftech four-rail vinyl fencing was installed at the ranch, while 14,000 lineal feet of custom-milled Kentucky oak rail fence surrounded the luxury homes and private golf course at the Black Rock Development.
