All subcommittees met and commenced working sessions. The committee bylaws were formulated and prepared for letter ballot. No standards were completed, but subcommittee F14.10 recommended to ASTM Committee A5 that their specification A392 Standard Specification for Zinc-Coated Steel ChainLink Fence Fabric be amended for a change in chain link fabric selvages. A second executive committee and full committee meeting was held Sept. 25 and 26, 1973, in Kansas City, Mo. Rudy Parisien was selected and accepted chairmanship of F14.20 Wood Fences. Richard Perry was selected and accepted chairmanship of F14.30 Other Fences. Further work was accomplished preparing first drafts of proposed standards. Present fence related standards now held by other ASTM committees were reviewed. Arrangements were made to provide liaison between Committee F14 and Committee A5 on Metallic Coated Iron and Steel Products and Committee F12 on Security Systems and Equipment. An executive committee meeting and a full committee meeting were scheduled for Feb. 5-6-7, 1974, at the Regency Hyatt House in Atlanta, Ga. The current membership of the committee is as follows: 33 producers, 12 users, and 8 general interest. ASTM publishes updated edition of fence standards chain-link and wire fence fabric, fence construction and installation practices, fences for playgrounds, sports fields, sports courts, and other recreation facilities, fence fittings and protective coatings, industrial and comm e r c i a l horizontal slide gates, fencing materials used in detention and correctional facilities and many more areas. CONSHOHOCKEN, Penn. ��� ASTM International now has available the 12th edition of its ASTM Standards for Fence Materials and Products. The new edition is the most current resource for the fencing industry and includes 49 ASTM standards. The price of either a book or CD-ROM is $175. Anyone who deals with fence projects which include standards and specifications is urged to get the new edition, as many standards have been changed or revised, and there are new ones added. Forty-nine ASTM standards cover AFA members pitch in to repair storm-damaged fence at Ronald McDonald House in Houston GLEN ELLYN, Ill. ��� At the time this was being written, members of the American Fence Association were scheduled to team up with the Ronald McDonald House organization before the FENCETECH convention in Houston. AFA members were to visit the Ronald McDonald House Houston on Feb. 26 to spend time with the families and offer support through various activities. (Photos and a detailed report will appear in a future issue of WFN.) Volunteers would repair a fence around the property that was severely damaged in a recent storm, as well as provide and serve dinner to families and enjoy a game night with them. Members were also scheduled to spend time doing general clean up around the House, especially in the toy room, which needed to be sanitized daily. The Ronald McDonald House Houston offers a home away from home, providing care, compassion and hope to families with seriously ill children being treated in Texas Medical Center member institutions, which include: ��� Holcombe House, a freestanding 50-bedroom home for longer stays. ��� Texas Children���s Hospital, with 20 bedrooms as well as three family rooms. ��� Children���s Memorial Hermann Hospital, with 14 bedrooms. ��� ���Cookie Corner��� at M.D. Anderson Children���s Cancer Hospital, where volunteers bake chocolate chip cookies once a week.
