24 • SEPTEMBER 2013 • WORLD FENCE NEWS Editor's column continued from page 4 by growing installation of high-value fences, such as ornamental metal and composite fencing. • Among fencing materials, PVC and composite are forecast to exhibit the most rapid growth in demand through 2016. • In 2011, metal fencing accounted for the largest share of the fencing market in both dollar value and linear feet. Demand for metal fencing will increase in line with the industry average through 2016. • Wood fencing demand will increase at a below average pace Noise Abatement Solution UR W O ION VIE LAT TAL INS IDEO V 1/8" thick material attaches to existing chain link fence, scaffolding or any custom built support Comes with or without anodized brass eyelets on both top and bottom through 2016. However, demand for wood fencing will face competition from PVC and composite fencing, which require less maintenance than wood. • Demand for fencing in residential building construction applications is forecast to rise at an above average pace through 2016, fueled by a rebound in housing completions. Further growth will be supported by the large residential replacement segment, which will benefit from a recovery in improvement and repair spending. • Nonresidential fencing demand PulJak Stretches It Tight And Right! Winter snow and ice made mounting the track on the ground implausible; the gate had to be suspended across the space. It also had to slide east and west with the ability to withstand the strong northerly winds common to the area. Solution: Pro Access re-engineered its standard SafeGlide cantilever gate to span the gap and withstand the wind stress. The gate moves with a hydraulic operator for safe, reliable operation every time. Larry told us that it is slowly getting better. People are upgrading. New folks are moving in with children and pets, necessitating fences. There are some new businesses opening, as well. Larry confided that the big box stores are really selling "trash fencing," particularly vinyl, and people are looking to upgrade. Further, Larry reports that there are not a lot of foreclosures. There are a group of five to seven hospitals as well as educational, government and agricultural facilities. Therefore, those are the quarters where hiring was going on when we spoke. We then asked about the company strategy that is in place for 2013. We were told that the company is expanding into building decks, because they have a good carpenter on board.
