YAMAHA DONATES $95,000 TO OUTDOOR PROJECTS IN Q1 Yamaha Motor Corp., USA, announced the first quarter 2015 GRANT (Guaranteeing Responsible Access to our Nation's Trails) recipients from the Yamaha Outdoor Access Initiative. This quarter, more than $95,000 was contributed to eight projects supporting the program's industry-leading dedication to safe, responsible riding and open sustainable access to land, trails and riding areas for OHV users. "Recognizing OHV riders are also hunt- ers, fishermen, campers, farmers and out- door enthusiasts, Yamaha's Outdoor Access Initiative has spent the past year investing in projects that directly benefit the public's ability to access land for work and play," said Mike Martinez, Yamaha's ATV/SxS group vice president. "The outdoor recreation com- munity has responded well to the expanded platform of the GRANT program, submitting more thoughtful and well-designed projects that embrace and protect the diverse uses of public land; something we hope to see more of in the coming funding cycles." LAZER STAR LIGHTS AWARDED PATENT FOR LIGHT BARS Paso Robles, Calif.-based Lazer Star Lights was awarded patent number 8974102 on March 10, which protects Lazer Star's intel- lectual property of a number of innovative solutions for LED light bars. Foremost among the patent's claims is the unique power design of Lazer Star's light bars: Power input is built into both end caps on the light bar, so it can be powered from either side to accommodate any vehicle. This design allows multiple bars to be connected, or "daisy chained," utilizing the power input on the opposite end. The design also reflects an industry first for Lazer Star: a color- swapping light bar. The Racer Special LED bars allow for multiple, switchable colors in a single LED bar. In addition, the patent rec- ognizes two further innovations from Lazer Star.
