10 • November 9, 2015 • Powersports Business NEWS www.PowersportsBusiness.com BRP CONTINUED FROM PAGE 9 OEMs will reveal 25 new models in Milan With its 2015 edition, EICMA, the Interna- tional Motorcycling Exhibition, is at the fore- front of technical developments and looks to the future as it gets ready to present the most exclusive product premieres — unveiling 25 new models — and a rich program. As usual, EICMA, to take place at Fiera Milano in Rho, from Nov. 17-22 (with the first two days reserved for press and trade visi- tors), guarantees standards of excellence. This year, the Exhibition will take place on the west side of the trade fair district, in pavilions 9-11, 13-15, 22-24. More than 1,400 exhibitors and com- panies have confirmed their presence — 60 percent of them come from abroad, from 44 different countries, and 49 percent are new entries or comebacks. At present, there are 120 companies on the waiting list, 65 percent of them foreign. "This year again EICMA is poised to be the richest, the most interesting and the most widely appreciated event in the universe of motorcycling, an extraordinary opportunity to celebrate a sector that has always had a leading role in the national economic system and has contributed to make the name of our country famous and authoritative abroad," said EICMA chairman Antonello Montante. "This edition marks the onset of a new era for the International Motorcycling Exhibition, which has set new long-term goals for itself: provide maximum support to the companies that operate at international level or have just begun making their way into foreign markets. EICMA can and must trigger virtuous circles to support the recovery of an industry which has the potential to play a pivotal role in the growth of the country's economy, as it did in the past. The data for this edition sees an increase in the presence of foreign compa- nies, accounting for 60 percent of the exhibi- tors, a clear sign that we are moving in the right direction." THE INDUSTRY After the market had slumped in 2013 to half the size it had reached before the crisis (2007), Europe is showing signs of recovery, with a 4 percent increase. Italy has recorded a 6.4 percent improve- ment thanks to fast-growing motorcycle sales volumes and a good showing by scooters greater than 50cc. The mopeds and motor- bikes in circulation in Europe add up to about 36 million, 8.5 million of them in Italy alone. The turnover for manufacturers having production plants in Italy is estimated to be 3.8 billion Euros (53 percent of European turnover); the companies with plants in Italy provide work for 15,000 people (56 percent of the European workers in this sector). Even more impressive is the turnover achieved by manufacturers of parts and com- ponents for the two-wheel vehicle market: 1.6 billion Euros (66 percent of European turn- over) and 14,600 people employed (71 percent of European workers in this sector). From January through September 2015, the size of the two-wheel vehicle market (scooters and registered motorbikes greater than 50cc) came to 167,172 vehicles, up 6.4 percent over the same period in 2014. PSB EICMA 2015 begins next 100 years was also excited about the partnership. "Can-Am sponsoring the Duals is just going to be an excellent package, and I hope to see this partnership continue to grow and continue to get better," he said. "To be able to make this step into the Sprint Cup Series is a dream come true. I know I have a long way to go, but with Bobby Labonte being my mentor and co-driver for the No. 32 Can-Am car, it's going to help me a lot." BRP is setting up for a record-breaking 2016, with enhanced product recognition through the NASCAR sponsorship, entering the side-by-side utility segment and promising a commitment to its brand innovation for years to come.
