FOCUS PSB V-twin Motorcycle www.PowersportsBusiness.com Powersports Business • April 4, 2016 • 13 KBB.com data shows trend toward newer Harley-Davidson models BY LISA PELISSIER CONTRIBUTING WRITER Editor's note: Here's a look at how V-twin motorcycle views are faring on Kelley Blue Book's KBB.com. TOP 10 HARLEY-DAVIDSON VIEWS Harley-Davidson was the most popular V-twin motorcycle manufacturer on KBB.com year-to-date for 2016. When people think "V-twin," they think of Harley-Davidson. All of the models in the top 10 most-researched Harley- Davidson V-twin motorcycles list were touring bikes. A relative newcomer, the FLHXS Street Glide Special was the only motorcycle on this list to show an increase in KBB.com hits year-to-date for 2016. The models with the smallest declines in KBB.com hits from one year ago were model year 2013 or newer, while models with the greatest drops were model year 2012 and older. This confirms a general trend Kelley Blue Book has been seeing toward interest in newer bikes. TOP 10 METRIC V-TWIN MOTORCYCLES OVER 1000CC The top 10 Japanese V-twin motorcycles over 1000cc list was populated by eight models from Honda's VTX series. The same eight mod- els were on this list one year ago, demonstrat- ing lasting consumer interest. Yamaha lost one spot on the list to Honda compared to one year ago. Last year, Yamaha had two versions of the V Star 1100 Classic in the top 10; this year, one V Star model was replaced by the 2010 Honda Fury. TOP 10 METRIC V-TWIN MOTORCYCLES UNDER 1000CC In general, interest in Japanese V-twin motorcycles under and over 1000cc trended toward older model years compared to Har- ley-Davidson, which trended toward newer model years. Nine of the top 10 Japanese V-twin motor- cycles under 1000cc were in the top 10 one year ago, showing remarkable consistency in KBB.com customer interest. Honda dominated this list, taking eight of the top 10 spots with its Shadow 750 series. TOP 10 OTHER V-TWIN MOTORCYCLES Only three of the motorcycles on this list saw an increase in KBB.com hits compared to one year ago, and all of those were Victory Interest in newer pre-owned tourers grows Change from 2015 (2) KBB Suggested Retail Value KBB Trade-In Value 1 2013 Harley-Davidson FLHX Street Glide down 3% $14,525 $17,155 2 2012 Harley-Davidson FLHX Street Glide down 18% $13,550 $16,065 3 2014 Harley-Davidson FLHXS Street Glide Special up 8% $16,850 $19,400 4 2007 Harley-Davidson FLHTCU Electra Glide Ultra Classic down 14% $8,920 $12,125 5 2014 Harley-Davidson FLHX Street Glide down 3% $15,550 $18,355 6 2009 Harley-Davidson FLHTCU Electra Glide Ultra Classic down 16% $10,600 $14,325 7 2014 Harley-Davidson FLHTK Electra Glide Ultra Limited down 4% $17,500 $21,520 8 2011 Harley-Davidson FLHX Street Glide down 10% $13,275 $15,735 9 2007 Harley-Davidson FLHX Street Glide down 17% $9,760 $13,240 10 2008 Harley-Davidson FLHTCU Electra Glide Ultra Classic down 18% $9,380 $12,750 Year Make Model MOST RESEARCHED HARLEY-DAVIDSON V-TWIN MOTORCYCLES 10 MOST RESEARCHED V-TWIN MOTORCYCLES ON KBB.COM: 2016 YTD (1) Change from 2015 (2) KBB Suggested Retail Value KBB Trade-In Value 1 2006 Honda VTX1300C down 10% $3,150 $4,585 2 2004 Honda VTX1300C down 3% $2,740 $4,000 3 2002 Honda VTX1800C down 12% $3,040 $4,425 4 2005 Honda VTX1300C up 1% $2,810 $4,095 5 2003 Honda VTX1800C down 13% $3,245 $4,720 6 2007 Honda VTX1300C down 34% $3,475 $5,050 7 2006 Honda VTX1300R down 2% $3,085 $4,490 8 2010 Honda Fury down 4% $4,735 $6,865 9 2006 Yamaha V Star 1100 Classic down 9% $2,665 $3,895 10 2005 Honda VTX1300R down 23% $2,740 $4,000 Year Make Model JAPANESE V-TWIN MOTORCYCLES OVER 1000CC Source: Kelley Blue Book 1) Data based on KBB.com web hits from Jan. 1 through Feb. 10, 2016. 2) Compared to KBB.com web hits from Jan. 1 through Feb. 10, 2015.
