6 Ride 1: Hulett & Devils Tower 161Miles Take a rewarding ride to Hulett, one of the rowdier spots of the Rally and site of Devils Tower-the famous landing spot of the mothership from "Close Encounters of the Third Kind." Whether or not you take part in "No Panties Wednes- day," Hulett is worth the visit. You'll also pass through the town of Sundance, where the Sundance Kid got his name and stood trial. Ride 2: The Canyons 96 Miles In addition to the Rally hotspots, this ride takes you through three of the Black Hills' most scenic canyons: Boulder, Spearfish, and Vanocker. The roads on this ride are simply magical, though Spearfish canyon gets crowded at times while Boulder Canyon between Sturgis and Deadwood stays busy during the entire rally. Start early to beat the traffic and then do the route backwards the next day for an entirely different sensory experience. Ride 3: Black Hills Circle 145 Miles Get a feel for the geologic wonder that is the Black Hills–these giant masses of granite forced up through the sediment of an ancient sea–where the Great Plains end and the West begins. Enjoy a long, twisty run through spruce forests along Spearfish Creek, then a high-plains drift across eastern Wyoming and the lonely southern section west of Custer. Bisecting the heart of the Hills on US-385, you'll pass the Crazy Horse Monument, through lively Hill City, over the big water of Pactola Lake and back to Deadwood just in time for Happy Hour. Ride 4: Nemo, Keystone & Eastern Hills 86 Miles This route takes you from Rapid City on a quick climb into the Black Hills. You'll feel the temperature drop (pleasing- ly) on the way up to the historic camp of Nemo. Then it's down US-385–the Main Street of the Black Hills–to the boardwalk of Keystone and back to Rapid City by way of Reptile Gardens. This ride has some delightfully lonely stretches of road considering its proximity to the festivities. Ride 5: Rushmore, Needles & Custer 108 Miles Here is the most dramatic, diverse, entertaining and challenging ride in the Black Hills. You'll meet bison, burros and possibly bighorn sheep. Go underground at Wind Cave National Park; experience Mount Rushmore up close or viewed framed in the distance through tunnels on Iron Mountain Road. You'll curl around the astounding Pigtail Bridges, take a dip in idyllic Sylvan Lake and take a very slow cruise on the Needles Highway. It's a ride you'll never forget. Just don't follow an RV. Ride 6: The Baddest of the Badlands 155 Miles This ride takes you far from the lush Black Hills to the savagely beautiful South Dakota Badlands. Visit the famously remote Wall Drug for a famously free glass of ice water. Cruise through Badlands National Park and roam the grasslands of western South Dakota. You'll pass prairie dog towns and enjoy distant views of the Badlands. A quick stop at the ghost town of Scenic is worthwhile if ghost towns are your thing. 5th St 6th St 7th St 9th St 8th St 4th St Kinship Rd 2nd St 3rd St 1st St Junction Ave St Middle Main St Main St Dudley St Woodland Dr Sherman St Williams St Park Ave Lazelle St Lazelle St 2 3 5 1 15 16 13 12 11 14 7 10 20 7 www.madmaps.com Enter Promo Code STURGIS75 for a 20% discount at EVENTS EVENTS 2016 Sturgis Events/Rides Map 1 Beaver Bar-12998 Hwy 34 Live entertainment daily, mechanical bull rides, live MMA fi ghts and midget wrestling 2 Black Hills Harley-Davidson-I-90 Exit 55 Tues., Aug. 9—Black Hills Half Mile AMA Pro Flat Track Race 3 The Pappy Hoel Campground and Resort - 19942 Hwy 79 N (Formerly Broken Spoke Saloon and Campground) Home of the new Full Throttle Saloon.
