25 www.thunderpress.net THUNDER PRESS nNovember 2016n by Jay Anderson EL CAJON, CALIF., SEP. 24— Following up on the Demo Days event three weeks earlier, El Cajon Harley-Davidson hosted a special event on September 24, which Marketing Manager Tina Hook described as, "Celebrating the 2017 new model launch party, including a national sweepstakes with The Motor Company." Additionally, the deal- ership kicked in lots of goodies as raffl e prizes. Greeting the arriving riders were local Harley Owner Group (H.O.G.) members Susan Smith and Paul Gates, who provided an explanation of the various drawings and raffl es, making sure everyone entered both. Gate explained his participation by saying, "I'm very passionate about Harley and the people and the local H.O.G. group. And I appreciate doing the vol- unteer work." Plenty of bikers arrived through- out the event, with many throwing a leg over the new models. Given that some had, but some had not ridden the new models during the Demo Days event, walking around you could over- hear guys exchanging comments about the new rides, sharing experiences and impressions. Their comments about the ride and the power for the 2017s matched up with Service Manager Aaron Stechnij's description. "The new bikes are great. They did a great job with the motor. There's defi nitely a lot more power and acceleration." Stechnij specifi cally mentioned a couple of upgrades that are available now, an oil cooler and the new fan-assisted oil cooler kit and cool fl ow fan can reportedly cool down the bike up to 50 degrees. As he empha- sized, "That's fi ve zero degrees." Living and riding in Southern California, that warrants consideration. Riders fl owed in and out as the day continued, most stopping outside long enough to get a barbecue pork sandwich from Big J's BBQ. Then, starting at 11:30 a.m. and every 30 minutes thereafter up to 2:00 p.m., the DJ would shut down the music long enough for Hook to announce the win- ners of the dealer-supported raffl es. As expected, there were both smiles and groans of envy when the winners were announced. In the middle of it all, the sound of an old fashioned bell being rung cut through the music and conversation. A new bike had just been sold, leading to applause from one and all. Looking around, the H.O.G. ambassadors con- tinued making the rounds, ensuring everyone had signed up for both the national sweepstakes and dealership raffl e. The more the merrier. When talking about the raffl es, one rider was overheard asking where to fi nd the giveaway bike. Not missing a beat, Rob Poindexter of El Cajon Harley Administration asked for the keys to the rider's bike. Laugh out loud, as is said. No free bikes, but great food, a great atmosphere, plenty of giveaways, and the opportunity to learn more about the 2017 models, while entering the national sweepstakes. All in all, time well spent. 4 Don't Accept Anything But The Best Over 100,000+ Satisfied Customers ORDER DIRECT OR FROM ONE OF OVER 300 DEALERSHIPS ALL MAJOR CREDIT CARDS ACCEPTED Saddlebag Restoration and Support Systems Our systems address all of the problem areas of your saddlebags!
