AFA offers the intensive, one- week course for both novice and expe- rienced operator installers. The OIS is designed to teach the technical aspects of automated gate systems, including proper specifica- tions, installation techniques, and se- curity and safety procedures. Additional courses have been added that will cover telephone entry sys- tems, radios and locks. Students will attend technical class- room training, followed by hands-on workshops. The course will not ad- dress sales or systems design. This course curriculum was devel- oped in conjunction with the self study guide for the Gate Operator Installer Certification Program. For those students working to- wards this nationally recognized certi- fication, the examination at the end of the course will be given by IDEA, the certifying organization.
