Topics will cover the different types of personal protective equip- ment; preventing on the job accidents and injuries, maintaining a safe work place; and responding to an accident. Improper loading of trucks and trailers creates the potential for injury, prop- erty damage and costly inefficiencies. This module will teach participants how to correctly and safely load equip- ment and supplies onto a truck and trailer. Welding offers a quick and highly secure method for making these con- nections. This module will teach stu- dents about the basics of welding and, more specifically, will expose them to how welding is commonly used in fencing. Safety that is specific to welding will also be stressed. Note: This module will not qual- ify the student to be a welder. This sta- tus can only be achieved by completing an appropriate welding ap- prenticeship and/or education or certi- fication program. Site Reading & Layout Tuesday (2/26) 10:15 a.m. - 12:15 p.m. Preparing for a fence installation properly will result in a safe and effi- cient process. This module will teach participants how to verify materials, tools and equipment needed for a spe- cific job. Participants will also learn how to review a job site to determine the lo- cation and method of installation for all posts and gates. Individuals completing this mod- ule will understand pre-installation safety considerations, verification process for materials and equipment, site characteristics, how to layout a fence job and how to locate and mark fence line and positions for fence posts. The student will also be able to identify any potential installation prob- lems before the job starts. Blueprint Reading Tuesday (2/26) 1:30 p.m. - 4:30 p.m. Students will learn how to read and use blueprints in building fences and complete one of the eight core modules of Fence Installation School, a prerequisite to becoming a Certified Fence Installer.
