Back in black
Owner-operator Richard Shaw Jr. of Woodville,
Texas, has been hauling logs daily with this 1986
Peterbilt 359 for 20 years. The truck is powered
by a Cummins Big Cam IV engine and a 13-speed
Eaton transmission. "This is the sixth truck I
have owned, and the oldest, but definitely the
best," Shaw says. "Old guys rule."
Flat-top brothers
Dale Lauterbach says this 2002 Peterbilt 379 is carry-
ing its "older brother," a 1989 Pete. The newer truck
is powered by a 550-hp Caterpillar and an 18-speed
transmission. It has 8-inch stacks, a 20-inch front
bumper and a custom rear light bar and will serve
as the model for the older truck's buildup. With
the younger Pete, Lauterbach pulls flatbed for Max
Transport, hauling building materials and equipment.
