Wildstone GC • www.WildstoneGolf.com • 250-489-1282 The Wildstone Golf Course, located in Cranbrook, BC opened last season to rave reviews as the 1st Black Knight Design by Gary Player Design in Canada. Ron Whitten the Senior Architecture Editor for Golf Digest proclaimed that Wildstone was his "Favorite Round" in 2011 as he toured North America playing all of the new courses. There are a few signature events planned this season at Wildstone, the first will be the Black and Gold Event on the longest day of the year, June 21st which will see participants playing 36 holes. The first round will be from the Black Tee (7,127 yds) and the second round will be from the forward Gold Tee (4,947 yds). "This is our version of the longest day of golf and should be a good test as well as a lot of fun seeing the holes from all different angles," says Wildstone GM, Chris Andrews. The second signature event of the season is the Iron Man on September 29th and again in 2012 this event will host two person teams and feature some tough hole locations but still allow for some good scoring because of the Bestball, Alternate Shot and Scramble format. Other events for 2012 include the Friday Night Mixers, Skins Games and Socials. Fernie G&CC • www.golffernie.com • 250-423-7773 New at Fernie are a number of on-course improvements. Says General Manager / CPGA Head Professional Mel Dies, "Most of the new stuff for the Fernie Golf & CC would be related to on-course improvements planned for 2012: three new tee boxes in play, a new washroom facility for convenience to patrons, a new driving range, tee deck and access, and finally a new larger cleaner pond in play on #13. In all we will be spending over 100K this season on on-course improvements to help make the experience that much greater for the public. Hope everyone has a chance to come visit us this summer and join me in experiencing some of the best scenery anywhere in the world." Golf packages are offered with The Best Western Fernie Mountain Lodge, located right next door.
