MJT NEWSVIA PRESS RELEASE UNDERWAY Maple Leaf Junior Golf Tour Season Is Well Apr 30, 2012 - Murphy Storms Back At Paradise Canyon With an incredible two days of sun and very little wind in Lethbridge, AB, Patrick Murphy, 15, of Crossfield, carded a final round 68 to defeat first round leader Matt Williams, 16, of Calgary, by one shot in the MJT 1st Choice Savings Series at Paradise Canyon GR, April 28-29. Murphy's two- day total of 137 (-5) was the lowest in the field, claiming Overall Honours and the Boys 14-16 Division. Ian Mmbando, 17, of Lethbridge, closed with a final round 69 to win via retrogression over Brett Hogan, 18, of Calgary, with both players carding two-day totals of 143. In the Girls Division, Sabrine Garrison, 16, of Calgary, played steady golf posting 74-77, while Brendan Brown, 12, of Calgary, continued his winning ways with a two-day total of 150 to claim the Boys 13 & Under Division May 6, 2012 - Thompson, Young, Wright & Mcglenen Capture Division Titles In MJT Manitoba Season Opener A great opening tournament teed off the MJT Manitoba Series on May 5-6 at The Meadows at East St. Paul, where the weather held out for the 81 players in the field. First- time winner, Steve Young, 16, of La Salle, MB, fought hard, grinded it out and won the Boys 14-16 by two strokes (71- 76). Another first-time MJT winner was Nathan Wright, 13, of Warren, MB, who battled with Brenden Kesterke and held on to win Boys 13 & Under by one shot (74-79). As for the Boys 17-19, it was Bret Thompson, 18, of Winnipeg, MB, who made it look easy, winning by five (71- 72). The biggest Girls field ever was won by Nicole McGlenen, 18, of Winnipeg, who had a great first round (76) and then held on to win by two. Quilchena GC made a comeback and won the MJT Interclub Competition over Swan-e-set's young guns in the new net score Team Component.
