36 • MARCH 2014 • WORLD FENCE NEWS BOOTH NO. 539! California Chapter's traditional December meeting is a family affair The California Chapter of the American Fence Association held its 4th quarterly meeting at the Disney- land Hotel in Anaheim, Calif. on Dec. 7, 2013. As usual, the traditional holi- day meeting was a family affair com- plete with gift-bearing Santa. The California Chapter sponsored its golf tournament on Friday, Dec. 6 at Black Gold Golf Club in Yorba Linda, Calif. Complete details may be found in the chapter newsletter Golf Corner. Check it out on the web site www.californiachapterafa.com. "Scheduling for our Christmas event is different than for our normal quarterly meetings," said chapter man- aging director Priscilla Lavoie. "Our business meeting for this event was held in the form of a conference call. This allows everyone free time to spend with their family during the weekend. The Disneyland Hotel is lo- cated within walking distance of Dis- neyland and the California Adventure Parks. Needless to say it is a great hit with the children and parents alike. "The hotel always does such a wonderful job in decorating the ban- quet room with festive decorations, a brightly lit tree, red and green garland and nicely appointed table settings," she added. "The air was electrified as guests with excited children began to arrive. The noise level rose as the chil- dren gathered around the Christmas tree and Santa's chair to check out the brightly wrapped packages. "The kids who are old enough to read spend much time looking for their names on a gift. The little ones who can't read are excited just to see the packages, because they know that Santa most assuredly has a gift under the tree for them," Lavoie said. "Once Santa arrives is when the children are in their glory, this is what they have been waiting for. There is time to sit on Santa's lap and tell him what they want for Christmas and of course there are cameras galore, with parents tak- ing adorable pictures. "Christmas is not only a time for good cheer and gift giving, but it is also a wonderful time to spend with family and friends. I believe this is why everyone enjoys the AFA Christ- mas party so much," she added. "It gives them the time to spend with cherished colleagues, family, and friends." Anyone interested in applying for membership in the chapter and obtain- ing information on upcoming events should check the chapter web site at www.californiachapterafa.com Santa was a big hit with everyone, in- cluding the Stephen Cook family.
