Welcome to Milwaukee County. As Milwaukee County Executive, I invite you to share the unparal- leled opportunities our county offers this and every summer for outdoor recreation, sports, music and festivals, especially in our National Gold Medal Winning Park System. Visitors can choose from among more than150 beautiful county parks and parkways totaling almost 15,000 acres. These include our six beautiful beach parks along the scenic Lake Michigan shore, many close to downtown. Mark your calendars and attend some tremendous family lakefront events, like the Malibu OpenWaterski Championships (Aug 5-6) where you might see a world- record broken and the Milwaukee Air &Water Show (Aug. 6-7). For the seasoned golfer or the beginner, Milwaukee County offers 15 courses of varying lengths, where all skill levels can be challenged. Finally, the Milwaukee County Zoo continues to be ranked as one of the nation’s finest. Please make sure enjoy what Milwaukee County has to offer. You, your family and friends will be glad you did. Sincerely, Chris Abele Milwaukee County Executive Tom Barrett, Mayor As the weather warms in Milwaukee, the city’s attention focuses more on our fantastic lakefront. Our Lake Michigan shoreline, a freshwater coast, has great beaches, including Milwaukee County’s popular Bradford Beach, that attract thousands of residents and visitors. But our city’s lakefront is far more than just water recreation. The lakefront is home to some of Milwaukee’s most prominent museums. The iconic Santiago Calatrava- designed Milwaukee Art Museum and the nearby DiscoveryWorld both sit on the city’s lakefront. The Betty Brinn Children’s Museum is another nearby destination. Milwaukee is renowned as the “City of Festivals,” and the lakefront is home to most of our summer festivals from the world renowned music festival, Summerfest, to the variety of ethnic festivals that add life to our city. One of the important reasons Milwaukee grew into a great city is its proximity to water, and this is the sea- son to celebrate our lakefront. Sincerely,
