FOCUS PSB ATV 22 • May 4, 2015 • Powersports Business www.PowersportsBusiness.com 2002-07 model years also a key trait BY LISA PELISSIER CONTRIBUTING WRITER The following is a look at overall pre-owned ATV trends on Kelley Blue Book's KBB.com. The most popular ATVs may represent four different manufacturers, seven different model years and a nearly equal split between sport and utility models, but they are remarkably consis- tent in one thing: size. Nine of the top 10 ATVs overall ranged between 400cc and 500cc. The No. 1 model on the list, the 2005 Honda TRX450R, received 34 percent more KBB.com web hits than the No. 2 model on the list. Nine of the top 10 ATVs were older models, from the 2002 to the 2007 model year. The only model to make the top 10 that was newer than the 2007 model year was the 2013 Polaris Sports- man 500 HO, which also saw the largest gains in KBB.com web hits compared to one year ago, with an increase of 33 percent. SPORT ATV UNDER 500CC Interest in smaller sport ATVs was down slightly, with an average decline of 7 percent in KBB.com web hits. Yamaha lost the most ground, with an average per-model decline of 15 percent in KBB.com web hits for the three models on the top 10 list. Honda, with five models on the top 10 list, only averaged a 3-percent drop. All of the models on this list were at least 7 years old, with an average model year of 2005. All were between 400cc and 450cc. SPORT ATV OF 500CC & LARGER On KBB.com, Yamaha clearly dom- inated interest for sport ATVs of 500cc and larger, holding nine of the spots on this list of the top 10 most researched larger sport ATVs with its Raptor series. Larger sport ATVs showed a greater drop in KBB.com web hits than most of the other ATV categories, with the models on the top 10 list showing an average decline of 19 percent in KBB.com web hits compared to one year ago. UTILITY ATV UNDER 400CC Honda took all of the spots on the list of the top 10 most researched utility ATVs under 400cc. Eight of the spots on the top 10 list were occupied by Honda's Rancher 350 series, with six of those eight spots being held by the ES 4x4 variety.
