8 nSeptember 2016n www.thunderpress.net THUNDER PRESS by "Rambler" Steve Austin TRACY, CALIF., JULY 30— Thirteen years ago Big Momma started She Devils MC because she got tired of riding passenger on her husband's bike and started her own club—all women. Years ago she said, "I'd much rather ride with women." They may vary widely in age, but these girls are sisters through and through. They do three big events a year, their Bay Area's Biggest, Baddest Family Breakfast and the Naughty School Girl Party, both at their clubhouse, as well as their anniversary dinner at the Mountain House Bar and Grill outside Tracy on Grant Line Road, nestled among the windmills, which is where we were today. Summer at Mountain House is always 100 degrees or more and today was no exception. The facility has what I call a "party pit," which has a stage, outside bar, tables and chairs and whatever cooking facilities the hosts of the party can bring. To keep the temps down there is netting across the top of the facility and misters to keep guests hydrated on the outside. There was plenty of liquid refresh- ment inside for the guests as well, and the area between the outside bar and the main bar was air conditioned and showing different ball games on the big screen TVs. I found Big Momma beaming a huge smile with eight of her little dev- ils setting up the food, along with one of the newest members, Red. Since it was a Cajun theme, they were serving rice, gumbo, Cajun shrimp, pork roast, Cajun chicken and Salad. Although most of the food was prepared off-site ahead of time, Chef Ho, Red's hus- band, was grilling all the shrimp fresh on the spot. For $20 you were eating some of the best Cajun food this side of New Orleans. It took three days to prepare all the food. As always, she was excited by all the people who showed up. I counted over 200 bikers from at least 20 different Bay Area clubs like Oakland Stroke, Road Doggs, Azorean Brothers, Henchmen, Red Nation, Sober Riders, Fremont H.O.G. and more. Momma is very popular and everyone was trying to talk with her, and she did her best to talk to everyone there. All the while Gayle Sutherland and her band Sweet Talk were crank- ing out some great classic rock with Gayle throwing in some stellar Janis Joplin. The She Devils had a booth set up selling some of their clothing, but there were several others as well. Lady Rock Gear out of Modesto whose owner, Laura Serrone, not only sold a clothing line but also specialized in custom stage costumes for bands. This was a natural for her since she was currently in two bands, Revolushn and American Rock. Oakland Stroke MC had a booth, as did Party Lite Fragrances, Cujo Jewelry and Damsel in Distress who sold stun gun fl ashlights and pepper spray. Always a hit at any event. After lunch there came a special presentation by Big Momma. She was patching in two new mem- bers, Red and Sneakers. Momma started the original chapter in the Bay Area. These girls were heading up a new chapter in the Central Valley. Momma was so proud that she momentarily broke out in tears. After some photos of Momma and the new members the party continued. There were hundreds of dollars in raffl e prizes that had been donated including an Angel City Brewery Surfboard. Stacie Hayes won this and a Jägermeister Shot Glass Freezer and was last seen trying to fi gure out where these were going to fi t on her bike for her trip back to Modesto, and where in Modesto she was going to use a surf- board. Michaelray from Antioch had a similar problem with the Jägermeister chalkboard but they fi gured it out. Candy Wainwright had the shortest distance to go since she lived in Tracy but she found that the $165 she won in the 50/50 drawing folded up conve- niently in her front pocket for the ride home. She could've added to her cash though if she had volunteered to drive Stacie's and Michaelray's prizes home. Big Momma was thankful for everyone who came out for the event and was very happy to see that her house is still growing. See you next time Momma on another hot ride. 4 12TH ANNIVERSARY SHE DEVILS HOTTEST RIDE IN TOWN Bringing the heat Big Momma's house just keeps growing Stacy Hayes surfed back to Modesto on the Angel City Brewery surfboard she won in the raffl e Bay Area Sweet Talk with their front lady, Gayle Sutherland, did some serious justice to some classic rock and in particular, Janis Joplin There were at least 100 people in line at any given moment when lunch was served
