78 nSeptember 2016n www.thunderpress.net THUNDER PRESS as if they were on the set of a movie. Saturday night's festivities began with a huge bonfi re on the beach amid a happily hovering but worn-out crowd as racers prepared for yet another race the following day. Sunday morning everyone arose before the dawn as if it was Christmas morning, accompanied by engines roaring in the distance, fl ying down the avenues rushing to get to the sand. It was another day fi lled with sun, sand, laughter, roaring engines and the wave of a checkered fl ag signal- ing the racers to hit the gas. Bracket racing and elimination rounds were set up to crown a champion in each category. Awards were given out at the end of the race as dusk and the tide started to creep in. Winner in the Heritage class, driving a '31 Ford Model A Roadster, was Eli English from Pittsfi eld, New Hampshire. In the 4-cylinder class Brook Nath drove a '25 Ford T Roadster. In the 8-cylin- der class driving a modifi ed Lakester Flathead was Mark Conforth from Lafayette, New Jersey, and last but not least, motorcycle class winners were Mike Silvio from Red Boiling Springs, Tennessee, and Matt Walksler from Maggie Valley, North Carolina, both from Cyclemos Speed Shop. The winners took a bow by racing up and down the beach spinning doughnuts and fi gure eights, kicking sand in the air to show their appreciation for their fans. Everyone present knew that this was a once-in-a-lifetime experience. 4 Congratulations to Matt Walksler from Maggie Valley, North Carolina, and Mike Silvio from Red Boiling Springs, Tennessee, both from Cyclemos Speed shop Willam Gallo on his '46 Harley Davidson and Tim Warner on his '46 Indian Chief get- ting set to race TROG Continued from page 50
