Since these housings are smaller than the OEMs on the Dyna, the confl ict between turn signal and windshield was eliminated! For my bike, these new directionals also required a load equalizer, so again, that function of the Illuminator was put into play. Finally, it was time to replace the old mirrors with RIVCO Custom LED Accent Mirrors that come in black, which I chose, or chrome. These mir- rors include very bright LEDs, with the front amber LEDs intended to be used as both turn signals and running lights, and red LEDs on the outer rim of the mirrors that function as turn signals. The mirrors feature a sizable 3" x 5.5" convex mirror face, are anti-vibra- tion and have long stems that extend outward for a better rear view. All hardware was included in the package, along with installation instructions. The mirrors are designed to be externally wired, but Jeff was able to hook into the existing internal wiring that had previously been used for my old mirrors. My front directionals/run- ning lights are mounted and internally wired at the lower triple tree, so there were only two wires at the handle- bar switch housing (one of which is basically a fl ashing power wire only, and the other a ground wire), meaning that the running light function of the RIVCO mirrors couldn't be used with- out rewiring the entire front end of the bike. (Note that if your bike is exter- nally wired, you won't have this issue.) This wasn't a big issue for me, though, since the new NAMZ front directionals also function as running lights. Jeff twisted the inner and outer LED on the turn signal, cleaning up the number of wires that would have needed to be hooked up, and installed NAMZ JAE connectors underneath the switch housings so that the mirrors can be easily removed for servicing or other needs. The entire project was complete by late afternoon, and I headed back to New Jersey. Dusk came when I was about halfway home, giving me plenty of time to observe the turn signal func- tion of the new mirrors. The LEDs in both the mirrors and the rear markers were extremely bright at night, and a few days later, the group with which I was riding confi rmed that they could easily see both front and rear direction- als and running lights with no prob- lem, even though our ride took place in the daytime. And I can easily see when my turn signals are on without having to keep glancing down at the lower triple tree. Because my bike was over 16 years old and many mods had been done over the years, Jeff had plenty of little issues to overcome. Perfectionist that he is, Jeff made sure everything was as neat, safe, secure, functional and aesthetically pleasing as could be. He used various types of the NAMZ pin and socket housings and terminals for several of the product installs and used heat-shrink sheathing over much of the wiring. Jeff even pointed out the beginnings of some issues with my bike's frame and rear fender that would eventually progress to bigger problems in the future. And, due in great part to Jeff's and Tyler's diligence and care with the installations, every one of the products works exactly as designed. 4 The red LEDs on the outside edge of the RIVCO Custom LED Accent Mirrors are super bright, so there's no wondering whether my turn signals have been activated
