FROM THE NATIONAL SECRETARY, cont. Topics of discussion were: • Overcoming obstacles to good governance • What do people think about fraternals • Building prosperous fraternals in the 21st century • Marketing • AFA compliance services National Secretary Patricia DeNys will contact the AFA to see the full services that this compliance group can offer to our Society. There will be a conference call with the board members scheduled for February 1, 2012 to cover the following topics: • American Fraternal Alliance consultant on governance • Lori Newberg, actuary and new products • Outsourcing compliance • Finance Committee setting parameters for salaries of elected officers • Information on Baptist Life Association Unfinished business was setting the Board of Directors' meeting dates for 2012: • March 21, 22, 23 and 24, 2012 • June 27, 28, 29 and 30, 2012 These are the complete Board of Directors quarterly meeting minutes. • September 19, 20, 21 and 22, 2012 • December 12, 13,14 and 15, 2012 New business included a discussion on the meeting that the Executive Officers had with Baptist Life Association. Long/short term goals and strategic planning was an open discussion. Meeting adjourned at 4:50 with a prayer. The Board of Directors has voted to resurrect matching funds for the seminarian burse (collected before, then presented at, the diocesan and archdiocesan association meetings). We are excited as we move forward with these plans! Some new features that are in the works are: • A NEW NAME! Burse, what is a burse? Many people don't know! We are looking for a new name for the semarian burse! If you have some names you would like to offer, send them to info@ncsf.com. • A NEW FORM! The NCSF Home Office will create a form for matching funds of a seminarian burse. • $1,000 MATCH! NCSF will match up to $1,000 of a seminarian burse, per year. • EXPANDED!
