The study of data from 1,750 dealers who use Lightspeed for the 12 months ended April 24 shows that more tire sales happen at the retail level between the months of May and August than any other four-month period dur- ing the year. The sample included $112 million in tire sales (539,000 tires). Tire sales at the 1,750 CDK dealership totaled $13.5 million in July 2015, slightly topping the $13 million sold in both May and June. August tires sales were $12 mil- lion. January's $4.8 million in sales was the slowest month. The spring riding season gets rolling in earnest in March, when tire sales hit $11 million. The average month at a dealership that uses the Lightspeed DMS shows the fol- lowing sales by mix: custom/cruiser/tour- ing — 45 percent; ATV/UTV — 19 percent; sport touring — 12 percent; hyper sport — 11 percent; off-highway — 6 percent; dual sport — 4 percent; with wheel — 2 percent; and scooter — 1 percent. In Canada, the largest two sales classes are reversed, with ATV/UTV at 37 percent and custom/cruiser/touring at 24 percent. For the two classes combined, the U.S. is at 64 percent of all tire sales, and Canada is at 61 percent of all tire sales.
