Teryx —Teryx/LE/Camo and Teryx4/ LE/Camo Following is a closer look at the 2017 Mule SX family. Kawasaki has introduced the new Mule SX family of side-by-sides, featuring a variety of compact, lightweight models that are capable, durable and reliable, and packed with value. The S stands for small; the X stands for strong. Unlike other models, the Mule SX is designed for modesty. It's built for those who need a hard working, go-anywhere machine, but without the size, speed and expense of its bigger Mule PRO series. The Mule SX is an affordable option and easier to transport when you have multiple units to carry between job sites. MSRPs: Mule SX, $7,299; Mule SX 4x4, $8,099; Mule SX 4x4, $8,299; Mule SX 4x4 XC, $8,399; Mule SX 4x4 XC Camo, $9,049; and Mule SX 4x4 XC SE, $9,399. Some Mule SX highlights: Modern Mule PRO-inspired styling Industry-leading three-year limited warranty Steel cargo bed, front bumper and ROPS Centralized and ergonomically comfort- able controls Compact size for easy transport, maneu- verability — fits into the bed of a full-size pickup truck Size doesn't always matter, but depend- ability, durability and strength always does. The newest member of the Mule family, the Mule SX is the little brother with many Mule PRO family styling cues. Like the little brother in the family, it's here to prove it's much stronger than its size may convey. It's designed to be compact, small enough to fit into the bed of most full-size pickup trucks, but built with the strength and durability that Kawasaki Mules are known for. The Mule SX can work hard and play hard, get into more compact places and do almost as much as its larger counterparts. The Mule SX is available in six configurations, starting with the standard SX 2-wheel-drive model up to the XC options. The Mule SX 4x4 XC is designed with campers, hunters and explorers in mind, with a camouflage option that helps you to blend into your surroundings when venturing into the woods or hunting. All XC models feature 4x4, bigger 12-inch wheels and 26-inch tires, pro- viding more ground clearance and new more aggressive, wider tread. The Mule SX 4x4 XC SE is feature packed for even more comfort, convenience and style. It includes aluminum wheels, a sun top, an underseat compartment and four LED headlights for times when you need the light the path home … or maybe the path deeper into exploration. The pickup-truck style front hood, front grill and headlamp design were modeled after the Mule PRO Series, the flagship models in the Mule lineup. These styling cues give the Mule SX models a tough, rugged appearance. The compact headlights, similar to those found on the Kawasaki Teryx and Teryx4, also contrib- ute to modern styling. The dash on all of the models has been redesigned to give it more automotive styl- ing while also making access to the controls Kawasaki reveals 2017 ATV, UTV model lineup 22 • June 13, 2016 • Powersports Business www.PowersportsBusiness.com MRZR military vehicle features turbo diesel Polaris Defense, a division of Polaris Industries Inc., announced the addition of a high-perfor- mance MRZR turbo diesel (MRZR-D) to its MRZR off-road vehicle lineup. MRZRs have redefined ultralight, off-road mobility for military vehicles and are mission critical for expeditionary forces in the U.S. and more than 20 allied countries to meet mission demands and threats while forward deployed. P o l a r i s D e f e n s e debuted the MRZR- D at the 2016 Special Operations Forces Industry Conference (SOFIC), in Tampa, Fla., and at CAN- SEC 2016 in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada, both in May. To be as expe- d i t i o n a r y a s t h e warfighters that use them, MRZR vehi- cles are V-22 heli- copter transportable and can be configured a number of ways, including two-, four- and six-person. The turbo-charged diesel engine in the new MRZR-D has been engineered to meet the performance and physical specs of the original MRZR vehicles. While many key features — like the dimensions, payload, towing, ground clearance, accessories, han- dling and other features — remain the same, Polaris incorporated feedback from the field in the new product, including updated occu- pant seating space, ergonomics and sight- lines. The MRZR-D also provides increased auxiliary power and greater range, making it even more effective. "The new turbo diesel powertrain is signifi- cant in reducing the logistics burden for select U.S. services and many foreign militaries that have strict require- ments for diesel fuel," said Jed Leon- ard, senior manager, Polaris Defense. "And as importantly for our military cus- tomers, we've engi- neered this diesel powertrain to meet the same mission requirements and extreme off-road performance that P o l a r i s a n d t h e MRZR are trusted for in peacetime, security operations and conventional military missions." "Throughout the last three years, we've had an open dialogue with Polaris about how we were using the MRZRs and enhancements that would help us complete our missions more effectively. This has been very beneficial to us in the program office and the warfighters as Polaris has incorporated our requests. In the case of the MRZR-D, we suggested changes to improve sightlines and ergonomics, which were incorporated," said Brendon Reedy, LTATV acquisition program manager, PEO- SW/FOSOV, USSOCOM. "It's nice to see com- mercial companies such as Polaris continue to invest in the defense industry, and we're happy those investments have resulted in a turbo- diesel MRZR." Production continues for the original gas powertrain MRZR 2 and MRZR 4 under the LTATV program for USSOCOM and other international contracts. Orders for the 4-seat turbo-charged MRZR-D are being accepted now, with production and deliveries also start- ing this year.
