WORLD FENCE NEWS • OCTOBER 2014 • 15 Ultraloop multi-voltage vehicle detector new from EMX Industries The new Ultraloop multi-voltage vehicle detector from EMX Industries is a compact, energy effi cient and cost effective loop detector that is easy to install and setup. In addition, dealers can reduce inventory cost by stocking only one loop detector with universal voltage – 9VDC to 240VAC. The ULT- MVP's exclu- sive Detect-on- Stop™ (DOS) t e c h n o l o g y activates only when the ve- hicle comes to a complete stop on the loop, making it ideal in cross-traffi c situations and warehouse settings with many over- head doors, the manufacturer stated. Sensitivity selection is simplifi ed by the ULTRAMETER™ display that indicates the appropriate sensitivity setting to detect the vehicle positioned on the loop. The 10 sensitivity settings allow for fi ner adjustment of the detection level, while the four frequency set- tings provide greater fl exibility in preventing crosstalk in multi-loop applications. An 11 pin plug in base, multiple settings for sensitivity, fre- quency, pulse on entry, pulse on exit, presence and the DOS feature make this new EMX loop detector a univer- sal fi t for any installation. EMX Industries has manufac- tured its access control products in Cleveland, Ohio since 1987. For additional information, visit www.emxinc.com or email salessup- port@emxinc.com. Commerce Department reports a decline in sales of new homes The market for newly built homes weakened in the fi rst half of the year, a development that's likely to impede economic growth and could hold back job creation in 2014, according to re- cently-released data from the U.S. Dept. of Commerce. Sales of new single-family homes are down 4.9% through the fi rst six months of the year compared to the same period of 2013. June sales fell 8.1% from May to a seasonally ad- justed annual rate of 406,000. The reading was well below expectations, according to a number of economists surveyed by The Wall Street Journal. Meanwhile, May sales were re- vised down to a rate of 442,000 from a previously estimated 504,000. The initial May reading would have been the strongest pace since the recovery began, but the revised fi gure isn't even the best of the year. The absence of momentum in new-home sales heading into the third quarter, along with no improvement in mortgage applications and still- tight lending standards "raise serious questions about the state of the hous- ing market going forward," comment- ed one economist interviewed by the Journal. The latest numbers show home building – a major employment and growth engine prior to the recession – is still struggling to fi nd its footing, the report revealed.
