78 • OCTOBER 2014 • WORLD FENCE NEWS Wild fence, er, goose chase continued from page 76 surveyor's record on that job I just started! I go to the man who complained about the fence in the right-of-way. He is in real estate, and has better records than the city. He gives me a photocopy of the piece of ground I'm working on. He blows it up to near life size on his copy machine. Then the discovery! I tell the li- cense department we found all the F.I.P.s shown, the fence well outside the right-of-way as shown on the plot! It was at least a foot outside it! I tell 'em to send a guy out to check. Oops, I forgot… the city doesn't have a surveyor. Sorry! The permit is issued, and I call the code enforcer. A real cop, this time. I ask them to please come over and remove the red tags. "Throw 'em away yourself, you're clear," he says. Well that's a hell of a note! I'm going to check out why the city care- fully avoided taking any action on the right-of-way mess, after the foulup was discovered! Very suspicious! There were no records on the sub- division recorded at the county, and no one wants me to contact the city council or the mayor. Four days lost doing a job the city should have done! If I'm right in what I suspect, it's going to be awful, terrible. Worse than what Marshall Dillon of Gun- smoke did to the man who shot his deputy Chester in the knee when he caught him! Well, how about a "temporary one-shot license" so they could issue me a "temporary one-shot permit? " I could trade the temporary license up for a real one when the violation was corrected. At Western Tube & Conduit customer satisfaction and quality are the first order of business. Our Fencepost and Fencerail production is ISO-9001:2008 certified - and our products are manufactured to meet all the applicable state, federal, industrial and regulatory specifications and requirements. While we regularly stock standardized products and sizes, we are happy to provide custom dimensions as well. All our Fence products are galvanized with high purity zinc. We use high frequency welding (ERW) to turn the highest quality strip steel into tubing, and then a continuous hot-galvanizing process to zinc-coat the products smoothly and evenly. A zinc-rich interior organic coating, a chromate conversion coating, and a clear exterior organic coating provide the complete finish package that gives them superior protection against the elements and long life as a result. Gal-Z serves customers looking for shaped Fence tubing as well as corrosion-protected mechanical tubing. It can be purchased in squares and in rectangles, and it provides excellent environmental durability while also fulfilling the need for strength and weldability.
