FOCUS PSB Snow www.PowersportsBusiness.com Powersports Business • September 6, 2016 • 17 BY KATE SWANSON ASSISTANT EDITOR As of Aug. 1, snowmobile apparel brand Arctiva now offers a full line of clothing for every rider, from the trails to the mountains. The brand unveiled its newest gear, Vibe, and has already received positive feedback from its dealer base. "All the dealers that have seen it, they actu- ally want it for themselves," Jay Savignac, brand manager for Arctiva, told Powersports Business. "It's in stock in the warehouse, and dealers have been taking delivery on their snow orders." In comparison to the Comp and Mech offerings that Arctiva offers, the Vibe features a more fitted style. While snowmobile gear tends to be generous in sizing, allowing for layering of clothes underneath, the Vibe line was designed for the rider to wear without the need for more layers and fits true to size. "It's a break from the traditional snowmobile gear," he added. Another standout feature is the line's con- struction. The Vibe line is constructed of a Sympatex three-layer nylon stretch shell chas- sis with additional Cordura nylon in critical wear areas. Savignac explained Sympatex's background stems out of Europe from the adventure and Nordic marketplace. Therefore, the material is built and tested like motorcycle gear as opposed to regular snow gear. While Sympatex is just now making its way into the snowmobile arena, Savignac predicts that we'll be seeing more of it in the market- place moving forward. In fact, Moose Racing's adventure line and Ski-Doo are already featur- ing Sympatex in their offerings. This new material is waterproof, wind- proof and breathable, protecting riders from harsh conditions, but it also eliminates any overheat- ing hazard. "Con- s t r u c t i o n - w i s e it's a much more rugged, 100-per- cent nylon shell. I t 's t e s t e d t o withstand the real aggressive rider," Savignac said. While the C o m p a n d Mech apparel is designed for more recreational riding, the Vibe's target audience is powder or moun- tain riders. "With the addi- tion of the Vibe gear this year, that fills out our line to be able to offer products for every- one — from your 100-percent trail rider in the Comp gear, to the trail or powder rider in the Mech gear and then your powder or mountain rider in the Vibe gear," he said. Although traditionally jackets have outsold bibs and sets, Savignac said that the features and benefits added to the bibs have made pur- chasing sets of bibs and jackets more popular in recent years. Features like the lighter 3M Thin- sulate insulation, YKK zippers and increased ventilation have helped sales. Both the Vibe shell jacket and bib have a starting MSRP of $440. The Vibe shell is avail- able in a black with Hi-Vis yellow accents. An added bonus, the bib features an interior cuff snow gaiter, which keeps warmth in and blocks out both snow and wind. Arctiva plans to increase its visibility this year by attending more snow shows, includ- ing Haydays, in addition to its Parts Unlimited showcases. "We hope to see a lot more vis- ibility through those events like that," he said. "We've amped up our advertising this year, and there's going to be a lot more visibility from the trade magazines." PSB Arctiva launches Vibe lineup of snowmobile gear Arctiva's Vibe line is constructed of Sympatex material for durable, rugged protection without the discomfort of overheating. The Vibe fitted line breaks away from traditional snow gear by having a more slim fit style, eliminating the need for layering underneath.
