It is also seen that early out of season unit sales are triggered by early snowfall. The exception to this is the FY16 strong spring sales initiated by excessive snowpack, approaching 300 billion square feet, in January 2016. While FY15 may appear to have stronger unit sales than FY16, in reality they are within four unit sales of being equal (28,919 FY15 vs. 28,923 in FY16). While FY15 had strong sales during November and December, the FY16 season had consistent sales for a longer period of time. January FY16 is the strongest January in this study, likely the result of extraordinary snow fall in that same month. February 2016 was also the strongest February in this study. The average buyer's age remains 45 in FY16, just as it was in FY15. FY16 was also a very Strong El Niño season, which is known to have a global impact on weather patterns, including milder winters and an increased chance of wet conditions. SALES PRICE When broken down into $2,000 intervals, the range from $10,000-$12,000 produces the highest quantity of unit sales, with 35 percent of total sales, and the average selling prices is just over $11,000. The next most-popu- lar price ranges are $12,000-$14,000, with 27.56 percent, and $8,000-$10,000, account- ing for 19.57 percent of sales. With 8.19 percent of snowmobile sales, the $6,000-$8,000 range shows strength. Units over $18,000 are almost non-existent. PSB CDK CONTINUED FROM PAGE 20
