FOCUS PSB UTV Accessories www.PowersportsBusiness.com Powersports Business • October 3, 2016 • 41 Yamaha Parts and Accessories, a division of Yamaha Motor Corporation, U.S.A., announced it is furthering its collaboration with Fox Fac- tory, Inc. to deliver Podium 2.0 shocks as a direct OE replacement on the Yamaha Viking and Viking VI side-by-sides. "Yamaha is known for having the best handling side-by-sides in the powersports industry, but often our customers use them in conjunction with accessories or on terrain that may require a different setup," said Frank Pittman, vice president, Customer Support Group, Yamaha Motor Corporation, U.S.A. "Fox's Podium 2.0 shocks expand the capabilities of this already fantas- tic vehicle, allowing for adjustable ride heights or clearances." This complete set of four Fox Podium 2.0 shocks pro- vide increased ride comfort and adjustable height in addition to being fully re-buildable. Options available in STD or HD spring rates allow the driver to tailor the suspension toward their specific needs. For an overall increase in ride and handling capabilities, choose the STD option. For heav- ily accessorized units, or to increase load carrying capabilities and maintain ground clearance with heavy loads, choose the HD spring option. "Yamaha approached us to develop a cus- tom-tailored solution for their Viking and Viking VI customers that enhanced the experi- ence for both recreational and work-focused conditions," said Lars Matheney, Powersports Division sales manager at Fox. "Our Podium 2.0 upgrade options are specifically tuned for their vehicles and are a great complement to their performance because it allows the driver to choose a package according to their personal preference and driving style." In addition, the Fox Podium 2.0 shocks feature a Type-III anodized aluminum body, complete with an ultra-durable bottom-out bumper, 5/8-inch, hard-chromed shaft and high flow velocity- sensitive damping. A dual-rate spring with an adjustable spring crossover point is also included in the rear shocks. All four shocks feature externally adjustable spring preload, and the installation kit includes spring preload adjuster tool along with mounting and adjust- ment instructions. Availability is scheduled for October through Yamaha's autho- rized dealer network. "Our factory-trained dealers are an integral part of our busi- ness, and we are excited to offer them additional opportunities to meet their customer's needs," Pittman said. The set of four shocks has an MSRP of $1,199.99. PSB Fox shocks available for Viking, Viking VI YXZ1000R GEAR KIT COMING THIS FALL Yamaha Motor Corp., USA, announced additional models and accessories for its 2017 model year lineup. The 2017 Yamaha YXZ1000R pure sport side-by-side, along with an all-new Genuine Yamaha Technol- ogy Racing (GYTR) torque assist gear kit for the YXZ1000R, were available in dealerships in September. A Special Edition (SE) Tacti- cal Black Kodiak 700 ATV will be available starting in October for the fall riding season. "A year after its world debut last September, the YXZ1000R is still the most exciting pure sport side-by-side fea- turing a three cylinder, 998cc engine and fully manual transmission," said Mike Martinez, Yamaha's vice president of RV operations. "While Yamaha is build- ing on the industry-changing YXZ platform with new variations, such as the Sport Shift model, and new accessories like the GYTR torque assist gear kit, we're also continuing to expand our ATV line, most recently with the new Special Edition Kodiak 700 in Tacti- cal Black." New to the Yamaha Genuine Parts and Accessories catalog for the YXZ1000R is the GYTR Torque Assist Gear Kit to aid the YXZ1000R through the most rugged, tech- nical and diverse terrain. This innovative system reduces overall gearing, providing enhanced torque control. The GYTR kit reduces the YXZ1000R's final gearing by 30 percent for balanced close-ratio perfor- mance, as well as an additional 40 percent to first gear for ultimate low-speed crawling. The GYTR Torque Assist Gear Kit includes a CNC-machined OEM transmis- sion case to eliminate the need for grinding, modification or outside machining, an adjustable speedometer calibrator for precise speedometer read- ings in YXZs with after- market tire sizes, and all genuine Yamaha parts and components necessary for installation. The GYTR Torque Assist Gear Kit will be available from authorized Yamaha dealers this month at an MSRP of $999.99. The 2017 YXZ1000R was introduced in June, and it was in dealerships in September. The Team Yamaha Blue/White model now comes with a color-matched blue sun top, colored seat stitching, embroidered seats and race-inspired decals at a $19,999 MSRP. The new YXZ1000R SE in Matte Black features FOX 2.5 Podium X2 Shocks, painted body- work, and cast aluminum beadlock wheels at a $21,599 MSRP. PSB Fox Podium 2.0 shocks are now available as a direct OE replace- ment on the Yamaha Viking and Viking VI side-by-sides.
