Start at the top (helmet) and work down (boots and gloves). The word tracks need to be memo- rized, so they can be used consistently with- out hesitation. Stock ranges, not styles: Too many dealers stock one or two of a wide variety of coats, rid- ing pants or shirts. You never have the size they want, and most of the time they won't wait for a special order (if the supplier even has them in stock). You are better off to pick a few hot sellers and stock depth in sizes. You'll sell more and have less obsolete clothing next year. Now go out there and crank the throttle! If technicians are tasked with a non-bill- able job, that should not affect their productiv- ity or proficiency. It is also important to know what comebacks/reworks each technician has. These comebacks/reworks can be tracked in AR and expensed at the end of the month. A technician may be 160 percent efficient, but they may have a lot of comebacks/reworks. I was at a dealership where they had a tech- nician who was 70 percent efficient. When I looked at all of the information available, he was doing very well. He never had a comeback and was one of their most requested techs. He did an amazing job. Many of the other techs that were over 100 percent were getting come- backs/reworks. It is a must to gather all of your information before analyzing the data and making impor- tant decisions. Be sure to base decisions on facts not feelings. Happy analyzing!
