WORLD FENCE NEWS ��� JANUARY 2013 ��� May 29, 1942 ��� November 9, 2012 Duane Davis founded Davis Fence Co. Charles Duane Davis, 70, of Topeka, Kansas, died Friday, November 9, 2012 after a long battle with cancer. Mr. Davis founded and owned Davis Fence Co. and was an active member of the International Fence Industry Association, now the American Fence Association. After selling the fence company, he started Davis Used Cars Duane Davis and did small engine repairs. He enjoyed raising and riding horses and was a member of the American Quarter Horse Association. He was born on May 29, 1942 at Wetmore, Kansas, the son of Freeman and Emma (Claycamp) Davis. Mr. Davis grew up on the family farm by Wetmore until his mid-teens, when the family moved to Topeka. He graduated from Highland Park High School and attended Kansas State and Emporia State Universities. He served in the U.S. Army Reserve for eight years as a medic. Mr. Davis married Mary Ann Hinkeldey on January 27, 1967. Their four children and their families are: Elizabeth Herring of Topeka, Kansas; Angela (Eric) Jeppesen of Shawnee, Kansas; Rachel (Harold) Shamblin of Virginia Beach, Virginia; and Nathan (Becky) Davis of Topeka, Kansas; and 10 grandchildren. Other survivors include his brother Dexter (Rita) Davis; sister Ronda Ohlde; sister-in-law Judy Hinkeldey; and many nieces and nephews. Mr. Davis was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers-in-law and a sister-in-law. Fence installer world championships Installers attending FENCETECH 2013 in Houson can compete with fellow fencers on the show floor for bragging rights in three different competitions each show day (Wednesday, Thursday and Friday, Feb. 27-28 and March 1, 2013). Pete Roth from Roth Fence will be orchestrating competitions such as: ��� Post hole digging: Dig a 3' footing; fastest time wins. (Sonnet tube must fit in the hole.) ��� Post spacing: Put in stakes without measuring at a distance of 8', 10', and 16.5'. ��� Chain link splicing: On 6' high chain link fabric, take out a strand then put it back in. Fastest time wins. A complete schedule with signup sheets will be sent out in advance of the show.
