Thor MX 2017 unveiled; Core, Phase lines retired Thor MX has introduced its 2017 collection, featuring two innovative new racewear lines, as well as a variety of hard goods and a full sports- wear lineup. Designed around the modern racer, the 2017 collection helps riders like Jason Anderson, Marvin Musquin, Cooper Webb and many more perform at the highest level. The 2017 collection marks the end of an era, as Thor retires its iconic Core and Phase lines and introduces the Fuse and the Pulse. Built with premium materials for unparal- leled comfort and dura- bility, the Fuse line is the new gold standard in motocross racewear. A fully tailored chassis enhances the fit and function of the gear in the active rider position for peak race day performance. Pulse takes over as the workhorse of Thor's 2017 lineup. Also receiving an all-new chassis, the Pulse kit features a refined fit for maximum comfort with minimal flap and drag while on the bike. Wherever your ride takes you, Pulse's race inspired design will endure the elements with class-leading performance and style. The Prime Fit line carries into 2017 with all- new colorways and an updated pant. Receiving ultra-light thermal weld panels in the knee and rear yoke improves structure and durability of the pant. Prime Fit maintains its lightweight, athletic fit jersey, which provides supreme comfort and performance on the bike. With revamped off-road, youth, and wom- en's lines, Thor's 2017 collection offers some- thing fresh for every rider. HOTPRODUCTS CONTINUED FROM PAGE 43 Vee Rubber enters the adventure touring market BY KATE SWANSON ASSISTANT EDITOR After nearly a decade in the United States, Vee Rubber has released three new tires into the adventure touring market, allowing the company to grow in both sales and brand recognition. "Our business has been good," said John Leale, Vee Rubber's vice president of sales and marketing. "Our sales are growing, and some of that contributes to our new involvement with MTA." Sales may have been affected by the current election year and other external factors, but Leale said. While Vee Rubber works with other dis- tributors on a more regional level, the com- pany recently began working with MTA Distributing, its larg- est distributor to date. "We fit into MTA's catalog pretty well. … They stepped up and ordered a lot of inven- tory and stock from us, so that contrib- uted to us having a really good year, and all my other distribu- tors are also doing good," he added. Another part of Vee Rubber's success has been its use of niche markets to support its business. "Sometimes we're the only tire in our market, or there's only a few players. That's been my business plan from the get-go, to find little niche mar- kets where we can really contribute and grow our business," said Leale. By choosing to offer tires within the adven- ture touring market, Vee Rubber is breaking out of its comfort zone from smaller niche mar- kets. With its increase in popularity, the adventure touring market includes a variety of offerings from multiple companies. "It's a hurdle for us to educate the consumer and dealer on why it might be better to try Vee Rubber … and letting them know that they can make more money selling Vee Rubber than other brands," he added. "Everybody has a tire in this segment, so we are out of our ele- ment a little bit." Vee Rubber has been promoting three tires for adventure touring use: the VRM-193, VRM- 163 and VRM-401. Both the VRM-193 and VRM-163 are adventure bike tires, with the VRM-193 holding the top sales spot. The VRM- 401, or "V-Grip" adventure tire is a close sec- ond, with a self-cleaning design and guaranteed enhanced grip. For adventure riders who chose to longer travel, all three wheels feature high load ratings for additional luggage. "We did our homework and tried to find a product that has appeal, good wear, weight- carrying capacity, trying to give them a reason why they should buy tires over that of our com- petitors," he said. "It's a really growing segment in the industry ... and it's a pretty lucrative part of the market."
